A rep from Empire Carpets came to my home. I gave him a $1500 deposit for
carpet and installation with the contracted agreement that I could cancel
within 3 days. I came to my senses and canceled the order the next morning.
I did it by mail and by phone.
The customer service rep told me they would send my un-cashed check back to me. When I got my bank statement, I found they had cashed the check 2 days after I canceled. I started calling them and after ridiculously long hold times I got a customer service rep on the line that promised the check would be sent out immediately. Everyday (really!) for the past 32 days I have called and they still have not sent out my check. I have been constantly lied to. I can't get past customer service and can't find any other phone numbers for Empire. I am certain Empire recruits people with absolutely NO integrity. I am now committed to telling everyone who will listen what a horrible company they are.
