Ok.  So a few years ago I did take out a payday loan which I paid to the company in full.  Then some fool contacted me at my job and said the debt wasnt paid and the police were on their way to arrest me.  I said good!  Three square meals a day, wall to wall carpeting, free cable that sounds like a vacation!

I as soon as he told me that the police were coming, I knew it was a scam and I was so pissed off at my job I had to vent so I did play right into their hands.

The person had a Middle Eastern accent but said his name was John.

Fast forward 3 years later.  I get an email (in all caps) from someone claiming to be an attorney (Attorney RIcky Christy) in Florida.  There were so many spelling mistakes it look as if a child wrote it.  The idiot forgot to put the actual company name where it was supposed to go and instead it looked like this (COMPANY NAME HERE).

Just as a precaution, I contacted the Florida Bar Association no such person is registered as an attorney within that state.  This fool even had the nerve to use a Florida state seal and that had incorrectly spelled words in it too!

UGHHHH!

They are a scam.  They may have once had access to some old payday loan data from a payday lender and debt collector that went bust.  Some reports indicate the debt collector had an Indian or Pakistan based call center, and ever since these thugs have been running their phone scam, trying to extort Americans.

File a complaint with the Florida Attorney General, since there may have once been some connection to Florida.  Also file complaints with FTC and FBI.  FBI already knows about them.

I to take out a payday loan years ago. Then on Friday 2-4-11 I got this same email from this man claiming to be Ricky Christy an Attorney.  I too went to western union him a payment. Since I was scared that I would be going to court.  Then I told one of my co workers and we googled his name and thank god I did. Because I found out all this information on this scam this man. I wonder how many people he has scamed into paying him money.  Luckily I called walmart where I western unioned the money and they said I could get my money back. That is one less penny he will be getting from me.

Western Union and Walmart should be posting consumer warnings agasint these fake "debt collection" scams, similar to the other fraud warnings they post.
