I purchased a prepaid cell phone as I have been very ill and needed an emergency contact when out of the house. Shortly after getting it, I began to receive numerous phone calls from people who stated they were from ACF a collection agency.     Even though I told them every time they called that  they were calling the wrong number and I did not know a man named Michael Hollas, they continued to call and it has gone on for over three years .
When I did not answer the phone they left so many messages that my mailbox was FULL every week so I called the numbers back to find they were very surprised.  The woman who answered became very foul mouthed and I recognized her voice as one of the callers on my messages. The message said that I had two hours to call her back and I was in legal trouble for fraud.
She became so aggressive that I could not even get a word in. Angry at me. Telling me that I would not win when I told her I had sought out an attorney because I had photographed the calls on my cell phone.
She began to tell me laws of bankrupsy and how they could collect a debt if someone filed for it. I asked her what the Hell it had to do with all the phone calls and harassment and she said she has legal education. He told me off and cut me down and hung up on me. If this were a real collection agency, I have doubts they would hang up.  I have no idea what the Hell they are but I am being so Harassed that I plan to let my phone go.  They continue multiple times per day and I cannot do anything about it.
This is the wrong number to the man they are trying to contact. Very unprofessional and very rude and very threatening people.  I think they are crazy to say the least.  When I ask to speak to an attorney, they say that there will be a consultation fee, or disconnect. How does a person stop them fro m this Harassment for so long.

You are being harassed by fraudulent "debt collection" shakedown rackets.

Probably the prior owner of the phone number may have applied for some online payday loan, and the sleazy "lead" sites are selling his information to any payday lender or scammer who will pay for it.  He might even have entered his information on a  fake site run by scammers.

The lady you talked to is a fraud and swindler running a con.  She is a  liar.  What she said about "bankruptcy" and "having legal education" is just BS, made up to scare the unsophisticated suckers she usually calls.  She will attempt to con and extort anyone she thinks she can get away with fooling.  In effect, by responding, you have stepped into the path of a bunch of phone extortion rackets that were originally targetted at someone else.

Do NOT talk to these people.  Do NOT give them ANY information about you, not your name, not your DOB or address, NOTHING that would help them more effectively retarget their threats against you.  Do NOT attempt to convince them you are the wrong person.   They never cared who they were trying to extort in the first place.  That sucker didn't owe them, yet they are trying the old shakedown anyway.

If you were being harassed by a locateable, sueable collection agency, there are consumer attorneys who sue them, on contingency.  You can find one in your state through www.naca.net, and they will commonly review your case for free, and take it on contingency if they think they are likely to prevail.

Problem is, these scum commonly hide their locations, often shield their assets behind multiple shell LLCs, and are probably not worth suing, since even if you won, it might be impossible to collect.

Step back out of the life of the sucker whose number you ended up with.
    Change your number.

Do not answer any calls from unknown callers, and if one slips through, hang up immediately.

Do NOT list your new number.
Do NOT answer calls from strangers, talk to strangers, or disclose any information to strangers.
Think of all strange callers as perverts, since that is what they are.

You need to contact the CFPB/Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and file a complaint.  What they are doing is against the law.

Started getting emails from this company saying I'm going to be sued for a payday loan. they claimed to have all this information on me including my compters IP address. When I questioned them about the debt they got nasty with me. When I asked for a mailing address they told me to purchase a prepaid visa card to pay them. What valid collection agency does that.

I also received an email from the "ACF LLC"  back in July which started out "dear debtor" claiming I owe money and if not settled in full I would be taken to court immediately. Couldn't find the company or phone number linked to a company so I ignored it...still no court papers or anything...total scam!
