I tried the product Somnapure and called and said it wasn't working (took 2 of 14 day free trial). The last thing I expected was an order arriving. No email notice... nothing. I guess I was charged, but don't know how much....2 cents is tooooo much for this product. I wish to send it back (bottle unopened) and have my credit card charge removed ASAP!!

This is highly annoying, but correctable... pls honor my request.

thank you in advance, -Timothy Edwards

They are running a cramming scam, using these "free trial" offers to get your CC number for the "shipping and handling" then cramming "automatic orders" based on some terms they hid in the fine print.

File a fraud dispute through your CC company, and block your card number.
In addition, file fraud complaints with FTC, your state AG, and the US Postal Inspector.

Note that although they will claim you "could have cancelled", or "you cancelled too late", you DID cancel.

One way they can make sure no one can actually cancel is to just delay the trial offer shipment, so that it usually arrives after 14 days from the original order date.  Other tactics can include not answering the phone you would have to call to cancel, routing you to an unanswered internal phone, changing their number frequently, only disclosing the cancellation terms and number in the shipment itself, trying to sell you when you try to cancel, or just "accidentally losing" the cancellation.

The goal is to keep their charges going as long as possible, and delay you past the 60 day FCBA dispute period.

The "product" could be anything that acts as bait for disclosing your CC number, and is generally really cheap, just overhyped and "sold" for a grossly inflated price.  They aren't making their money off the "shipping and handling", but they aren't losing anything either.  They really make it on the unexpected ridiculous charges and the runaround to keep it.

Do the math, and you can see why they all run it the same way, whatever they are selling.
The game is rigged, which is how you recognize a scam.

You would do better buying stuff from your local pharmacy, or maybe a local vitamin or health product store.

I received the second bottle of Somnapure, Natural Sleep Aid because I did not cancel after the "free sample". My credit card was charged $35. I had purchased 180 tablets of Melatonin 1 mg. from Piping Rock Co. for under $3, after the first sample. The shipment contained 30 tablets of 3 mg. melatonin, the active ingredient, with other herbs of lesser importance.
Math: 30X3=90.....for $35 from Peak life        180X1 mg for $2.90 from Piping Rock   Peak Life is 24X as expensive for the active ingredient melatonin. 90X2=180    $35X2=$70   divided by $2.90= 24 times as expensive.

I packed the second bottle up unopened and shipped it back to Peak Life......there has been no response in over 60 days.

They did not put a gun to my head or invade my home, but this is not good and honest business practice.

I responded to an ad for a free sample of Somnapure.  This was sent & my checking acct was debited for the shipping & handling of $2.99.  I did not see the paper regarding the product, but on the back IN SMALL PRINT apparently there was a disclaimer "Terms & Conditions" requiring me to cancel within 18 days.  The problem was noted when I found $34.98 debited from my checking account without my permission.  I contacted 1-877-869-3304 & they promised me that they would refund me $29.99 (not including $4.99 for shipping & handling) of the next month's product.  The next month's product was shipped to me 15 days after the original shipment was sent...not the full 18.  I am requesting a refund of the $34.98.  I am sending the product back now.  They were very polite on the phone & I look forward to their responding appropriately to my returned product & request for full refund.  THEY DID STOP DELIVERING THE PRODUCT.

I also ordered thed $2.99 sample and today got another package with 2 bottles in it. I haven't opened them, Monday I'm calling and cancelling the order! They'd better STOP delivering the product or BBB will be calling them.
It's not a good way to do business.

I also ordered the Somnapure "Sample" by charging the Shipping charge of $2.99 to my credit card. I received their product promptly and efficiently but didn't find Somnapure particularly helpful and discontinued use within two days. I received no inquiry from Peak Life about my use of their 'sample'. Subsequently, I found my credit card was charged $34.98 for Somnapure on  June 26, 2014 although I had not received any additional product. I had difficulty obtaining help from Peak Life. They did not answer their listed 888 telephone number during repeated lengthy attempts so I called my credit card company and disputed the charge. I received the product that evening and actually tried calling them again to return the product. That's when they told me that I had "agreed" to participate in the "Trial program". We then debated the fact that I had not agreed to anything except purchasing a sample. They insisted that in the 'fine print' of an obscure web page mentioned nowhere in the Sample advertisement there was an actual description of the fact that they would ship additional product if I didn't cancel within 17 days. When I said that I would file complaints everywhere possible Peak Life reluctantly told me that I could return the unopened product as "Return to Sender" with an RMA number they gave to me and then when they received the return they would issue credit. I just received the product that I had returned to Peak Life as "Refused". It is antoher example of the fraudulent deceptive practice stated in other complaints whereby they prolong their opportunity to charge your credit card as long as possible or frustrate the consumer sufficiently that they do not follow through and pay some charges. I am filing with the Attorney General since I just finished with the Better Business Bureau. Of course, Peak Life denies most of what I outlined here and has either an untrue version which is easily disproved by actual dates on the shipped merchandise or my credit card records. The bottom line is that the best action which I had already done is to instruct your credit card company to dispute the charges as soon as they appear. This company, Peak Life, is highly deceptive and uncooperative.

well I did the trial too for $2.99 got the pills which was okay, didn't really notice any difference tried to cancel and no answer, finally had a rep from my bank contact them and they issued me a RMA # for a full return, but no before trying to get me to accept a 60% refund saying they shipped out another bottle, sounds like a scam. BBB here I come.

Scam artist!  I paid the 2.99 shipping chg. for their sleep aid. I was never able to see online what they charged for a 30 day order. Next thing I know, they are sending me an order the following month.  $34.98 was billed to my AMEX the same day. Since they don't work, I marked "Refused" on the package. The package was never
opened. I returned the pkg. on the 13th of November and it was refused at the Aston,PA location. I called a rep at Somnapure today and he said their records do not show it was returned. They refused it on  11-17-14. I checked their $29.99 plus S&H against Walmart's price. Walmart was selling a thirty day supply for 9.99 and had a coupon for 2.00 off at the register. The Somnapure rep told me there were 20 pills in the bottle. I told him there were 30 pills. At that time he offered the pills to me for $19.99 instead of the $29.99 they normally sell them for.

The pills were ineffective and that's the reason I returned an order I never placed. Shame on them!

First, call American Express so Peak Life will not be able to process charge next month.  Second, have AMEX negotiate with them for every penny back.  They will worry about their business credit when a credit card company is chasing after them.
We all learned a good lesson of B2C fraud.  Be careful in the future!
