Not enough water

At first I bought the larger capacity Maytag top load washer and it had a strong burning smell coming from it after three washes solos was nice enough to switch it out with the smaller version which as much as I want to love it it just does not reach the proper water level that it needs to wash my clothes properly and also at the end of washing I hang dry half of the load and it does have a residue left on it from the dirt etcetera I am not happy with this at all they definitely don't make them like they did before I know that for sure
