On 12/23/2017 we had Dish Network and Their recommended internet provider Hughes Network installed by their technician. The pair never worked, after many calls to Dish and Hughes we were told that the problem we were having was caused by a satellite failure. At the time the two systems were installed by the same technician we were told we had 30 days to cancel. We canceled Hughes and had no problem as they honored the 30 day return policy, Now on 1/10/2018 we replaced all the Dish and Hughes equipment and purchased TV. Internet and phone services from ATT Direct TV. We are now told by Dish that we owe $480.00 early cancellation fee. Not only were we told by their installer that we had 30 days to cancel, the LIMITED WARRANTY states that defective equipment could be returned and the costs refunded. The Dish/Hughes problem was a defective satellite and they had no estimate of time to repair.
In the event we cancelled Dish a charge of $480.00 would be charged to our credit card, it would be cheaper to continue the service until we could get some help. My wife and I are 79 years old and on a fixed income. We just can’t afford $480.00 for something we don’t need or want.
