Previously, I was an account holder with T-mobile. I fell behind on my bills and they turned it over to Afni, Inc. Afni is a pest. They have changed the opeing dates on my credit report more than once which allows this this debt to stay on my credit report longer than it hould. I have spoken to a representative named Anthony and he refused to give his last name and he agreed to send me a settlement letter but instead sent a letter stating that this is an attempt to collect a debt more than once. I have contatec the BBB and they responded saying that the acquiring date was sept 13, 2010 which is a white lie. How do I get them off my credit report for good. This account was with T-mobile not Afni so why should I pay afni. I contacted T-mobile but they refuse to talk with me and suggested that I contact the collecting agency. I am going to look for my old credit reports that I have saved as proof for showing that afni changed the acquired date previously. I dont want them to get away with this and I know there is a way to get them to stop harrassing people or changing the dates on their credit reports.

There have been complaints from a number of other consumers of various deceptive collection practices including repeated changes to credit reporting to interfere with disputes.

Repeated altering of reported information indicates either that they do not have correct information to report, or that they are intentionally reporting different information to interfere with your attempts to dispute and clear up their "errors".

The Minnesota Attorney General has been investigating AFNI's activities in collection of T-Mobile accounts, due to reports of abusive collection and failure to validate disputed debts.

Contact your state Attorney General for assistance.

You may also wish to contact a consumer attorney, who may be able to sue them for violations of FDCPA and FCRA.  You might try www.naca.net
