unidentified trying to get me to deposit $50 check into my bank account

Wish I'd saved the letter that came with the $50 check.  It claimed only that my credit card account had a $50 credit and it was being refunded.  No Bank identity on Check that I can find.  No other contact method.  Suspect a scam.

    It is a scam. Take the "check" to your bank. Do NOT cash it as the "check" will be found to be fake and you'll be on the hook for all fees and possibly have your account closed.
    Let your bank handle it.
