LA Fitness Personal Training Agreement - Beware 52 week binding agreement

The Personal Trainers at LA Fitness coursed my son into signing a 12 month, 52 week Personal Training Agreement for $90 every two weeks.  They failed to tell him that it was binding for the full year and that unless he had a letter from a doctor saying that he was physically disabled and could not work out they would not let him out of the contract. Unfortunately, he lost his job two months later, He told them his situation and they keep billing him every two weeks.  I personally went to the local LA Fitness facility today and was told the same thing and but they agreed to let him out of he contract only if he paid 1/2 of the remaining balance which is through March of  2014.  This is totally unacceptable and an unfair the member. I recommend that you DO NOT SIGN ANY AGREEMENTS WITH LA FITNESS especially a Personal Training Agreement.
