2006 is a long time ago.  Did you actually apply for a rebate on tires back in 2006?

Are you saying you suspect this is a phony "rebate" scam?

If it were legitimate (hypothetically, from some original rebate screw-up or class action settlement), they would be contacting you by U.S. mail, would include the details of the reason for the alleged rebate or settlement, and would know what brand and model of tires you had actually ordered, from what dealer, and when.

    Alleged names:
    "REFUND REBATE MANAGEMENT CENTER"
    "Consumer Rebate Company"
    "Dave Brown"

    "Jerry - 18 Nov 2008
Got a couple messages saying i had a refund check for some tires I bought. Ive been getting calls telling me i needed to tell them where to send it. I havnt called them back. Ive also got a call telling me i had a refund check for a student loan. I called my student loancompany and they dont have any record of any kind of refund. Its probably some kind of scam."

What's the odds you are getting BOTH a rebate on your tires, AND a rebate on your "student loan", AT THE SAME TIME?  Is this your lucky day, or what?

What do you want to bet they want your checking account information, to transfer that "rebate" directly to you?  Or maybe your credit account number, "to verify your identity"?
