scammers using dish network policy to extract social security numbers

Scam callers with Called id of Dish net called me continuously asking if I want service. They would want your ssn and date of  birth to run credit check. The policy of asking ssn is really bad and allows scammers for id theft.

Not sure why Dish needs where no one else needs ssn. Think they awaiting a massive class action lawsuit.
