I was just reading my previous complaint on page 3 of this site.  I have written about how I got my money back because D.B. violates so many laws.
I told people to google "DIRECTBUYCOMPLAINTS" then
Find "DIRECT BUY CUSTOMERS SPEAK OUT" then
Find "INFORMERCIALSCAMS.COM" to find my letter but they could not find it,
because it had been erased. I found out that INFOMERCIALSCAMS.COM  IS A SCAM WITHIN A SCAM.
At the bottom of the one page of "complaints" There is a sentence starting with: the ICA findings Direct Buy adheres to ICA's consumer protection ...
customer satisfaction.  So I clicked on it and found a long rambling on, load of incredible lies.  They ask you to leave your full information so they can help you resolve your complaint.  At the end of that page:
ABOUT ALLEGATIONS---It says ...we validate and leave authentic posts up...remove those that we feel to be FABRICATED...I must have lied.
The last line invites you to request a visitor's pass to Direct Buy.
***GET YOUR MONEY BACK NOW***Photocopy your contract and have the print magnified to see if it states No Refunds-No cancellation(no cooling-off period)--One-time offer-no exchanges and No returns-These are contrary to the "Consumer Protection Act, 2002" Part III-Unfair Practice-#14.False misleading or deceptive representation(read through them and choose from them) #15.(1)unconscionable representation  (2)reps of Direct Buy should know (b)that their products could be more expensive than similar retail products (c) consumers may not always benefit from their goods and services
(e)they may have made you sign a contract that was one-sided (biased) in favour of someone else other than the consumer **In this case, part of the contract is written in a way to protect a 3rd party (the suppliers) who you are not allowed to contact directly if you have problems or questions, you have no protection if a supplier is negligent. (g) company's statement of opinion is misleading and not beneficial to the consumer (h)MOST IMPORTANT**The way the contract is written put you under UNDUE PRESSURE to sign (see ex. above) One-time offer... No refunds
These conditions allow you to RESCIND the agreement as if it never existed
acc. to #18. (1) and (3) gives you A WHOLE YEAR TO CANCEL
Send a 1st letter by Reg'd Mail, signed by both members and must be directed to the attention of the owner or director of the specific place where you joined.  Ask for the contract to be rescinded and for a full refund to be returned to you. Write in your own words whatever problems you had with the membership and relate it the parts of the C.P.A. 2002 that it violates.  Ask them to please respond within 14 business days. The CONSUMER PROTECTION BRANCH IN Ontario has a website that helps you make sure you have all your details covered in your letter. Keep your reg'd letter receipt and photocopies of everything.  If you live in ON, the branch can help you take D.B. to court if necessary.  If I missed
anything ,post a letter on this site  and\or check my other letters on page 3 or 4 of this site.  Please do not speak to them on the phone and do not arrange any meetings with them, they will beg you to come in and talk so that they can intimidate you and twist your words.  When they call you, tell to PLEASE put anything they have to say, in writing.

    Hi!  I have looked at every page & have not been able to find anymore of your comments listed.  I only found one other listed for DirectBuy from another consumer.  I live in MI and am desperately looking for help in getting a refund for our membership.   Unfortunately, we purchased ours more than one year ago, so I am not sure we will have much luck.  Any help or info from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

      I contacted the BBB Better Business Bureau, and they contacted Direct Buy about my complaint.  I received a portion of my money back now I'm going after the rest of it...Good luck

    I only signed up on Friday Aug 19th, 2011.  I WANT OUT!!!!!  PLEASE HELP ME.  Should I call them.  It's only been a few days.  Please help me get my money back.

    I feel filled with hope, or at least with a little hope!
    I joined Direct Buy, and they lied to me (they told me absurdly low prices to join, and after joined, those same prices for the same products just doubled over night).
    I felt overwhelmed!
    But I have some hope right now!

    I went to direct buy presentation and they tell you all these good stuff and then later on you find out its all lies...I called to speak to the manager and called ten times and have not returned my calls and its been two months...help me! Get my money back

    I have tried to buy a sliding door from Direct Buy and It is a lot cheaper to buy the same product at Home Depot and Lowes. This has happened on almost every product I have tried to buty. It is a total scam!!! Don't fall for it like we did.

    Hey, we have been members since 2011.  Never ever ever have purchased anything because things are too high!!  When we look at the catalogs they send, you have to really pay attention to all the added cost.  We were looking for beds. They showed nice pictures of beds we wouldn't mind having but if you read the print it would only be for the headboard or something. You would still need to get the side rails and footboard!!  Seriously.  I remember them telling us that if we didn't purchase anything that they would refund our membership so we couldn't lose.  We'll I am waiting for my money back.  What is the chances I will get it?

    Like most of the people here we signed up with them and have not purchased anything at all.  You would think that in itself would be grounds for terminating a contract.  Never-the-less, we have been members for a while now and if its possible we'd like to know how to get out of it and receive a full refund.

    My wife and I joined the club a little over a year ago and were lied to. At that time we were in the process of purchasing a home so we weren't interested in anything that could hinder that. The guy who signed us up told my wife and I that this membership would not go on our credit report (Lied). Immediately a company called Versa who is the financing company showed up with a "HARD" on my report. My wife and I tried contacting them for weeks after that and they would always tell us that someone would get in contact with us... they never did. They also said that they would send us a catalog every quarter (Lied). We've only recieved one catalog since we have been with the club and it came about 3 weeks ago. I spoke with bunch of people from office managers to corperate to members services to the financing company and headed to the BBB. Theres much more to the story but don't want to bore anyone. But we won't stop until we get what belongs to us back.

    BOTTOM LINE DIRECT BUY AS A COMPANY IS A SCAMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

    We signed up in November 2014 and since then I lost my job and incurred substantial medical bills for two surgeries.  We phoned Direct Buy several times, sent a registered letter which was returned unopened and contacted Direct Buy member relations explaining our financial situation and requested cancellation because we don't have the money to pay for it. Do you think anyone called us back?  You're right!  The answer is no.  They are unscrupulous and heartless.  Not to mention deceptive business people.  We are on our way to the BBB.

    I have tried now for 2 or 3  years to buy something from Direct Buy but they never have what I want.  When we joined they made it sound like a grocery store and all the items you needed at a reduced rate would be there but they simply are not.  Now it's been so long and our franchise they say is gone in our area and I need to talk to them about my complaints, money back is probably not possible?  I just get sick to my stomach when I think of the money we handed them.

    I purchased a membership years ago.  I also tried to receive the $5000 buy in.  Unfortunately never used it because of the misleadings, blatant lies, of the company.  You do not save any money instead flush it down the toilet. Is there a lawyer out there that will do a class action suit in order for us all to receive some of our monies back, if not all?!  This scam needs to be shut down once and for all.  There has to be a brave enough lawyer out there to take them on.  Please help!!!
