Grant Scam

I got a phone call from 202-400-5606 today, October 15, 2015 at 7:06 p.m.  A man with a middle eastern accent (identifying himself as Lewis Parker) saying that I had been chosen to receive a $7000 grant and not have to pay it back.  He asked what I would use it for and I said to pay on my school loan. He said that he was with the U.S. Federal Government Grant Department in Washington DC so I asked the address and he said Western Cost Street and I said really!  Then I said hold on so that I can look it up myself because it sounds like a scam. Then it sounded like I was put on hold the he came back on the line and said that the address was 200 Independence Avenue SW Washington D.C. 20201.  And I said you do not know where you are. He said yes, I go to work everyday. Then he said you know the White House, and I replied yes, he said it is in that building.  I said no that is not the address.  He said he would need to give me his employee ID number and phone number to call back. I asked what he wanted from me and he said he did not want anything from me and if I did not want the grant he could not force me to accept it.  I told him I found it on line that this is a scam.  He said it is not a scam and I told him that I did not believe him.  I told him I have had my identity stolen previously and my bank account cleaned out and I do not want to go through it again.  He kept insisting that it was a grant that I was chosen to receive.  I finally said sir, I do not want to be rude but I am going to hang up the phone now.  He kept talked so I talked louder so that he could hear me say no thanks for your alleged grant which I have found to be a scam and I am hanging up my phone, have a nice day and goodbye.  Then I hung up the phone.  This could have went really wrong for someone who fell into this trap. He almost got me because I had my debit card in hand but continued to question him.  It amazes me how people basically steal from citizens in the name of the US Government and that they with a clear conscious can sleep at night after doing this kind of crap to some.  The funny is they had called my phone half a dozen times earlier today but I was at work and did not recognize the number so I did not answer.  So friends and neighbors, be careful and be diligent, if you have to be rude.
