CREDIT SCAMING
Complaint
Mayka
Country: United States
This number has called me many times at my work place. Every time I go to answer - I miss it.
Finally today I was able find out who was calling and to my surprise he knew my name and asked if I was trying to fix my credit report.
I said no; my credit is fine! **He told me “I’m looking at your credit report right now”.
I told him that he had no rights to be not looking at my credit nor have my information or call me at my job and that I was going to report him to the police.
As soon as I said that he hang-up. I have tried to find the number in the internet - but haven't had any luck. Just that is reported in Clearwater, FL
** Just make sure you don’t give any personal information. Apparently some scams trying to get money. So be very careful! ***

Clearwater FL is a cesspool of scam telemarketing companies.
Odds are, if he wasn't with one of your current creditors, or with a debt collector assigned one of your debts, he wasn't looking at your credit report. At most he might legally have bought a list of consumers that meet some lending criteria from credit reporting agencies.
If he actually had pulled your credit report without a permissible purpose you could sue him.
Have you provided any personal identification or account information on-line recently, either to a payday loan company, or loan broker site?

Number may therefore be "Thrivent for Lutherans", which appears to be an insurance company.

What the **** would a licensed insurance company be doing in the cold-calling "credit fixing" business? Someone moonlighting? Cold-calling from CRA PRM lists?
For $99 a year it's worth the peace of mind. Better than credit review services that only notify you AFTER someone has stolen your identity. Although it's not a bad idea to do this also. I have an identity checking service thru my CC company Chase. It's affordable and they email me alerts anytime there is a change to my credit files. I can also go in and view who else is doing "inquiries" on my credit reports.
Someone programmed their caller ID with my number -- Verizon assured me that there was NO WAY possible that they were actually calling out from that number.
In the end, I disconnected the number (before Christmas) -- looks like the calls didn't stop for a while after that.
