I hate proactive. I had to shut my credit card down because they keep charging me after numerous attempts to make them stop.

It's a cramming scam..
They will continue to take money under the veil of "plausible deniability". Claim you "agreed", avoid "accepting" your cancellation, "resell" you if you call to cancel, "lose" your cancellation, on and on... Each month that slips by is another charge they get to keep.
Dispute all unauthorized charges through your bank to get your money back. Your bank can reverse charges back 2 to 3 months if you dispute promptly, under FCBA.
File fraud complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, and the US Postal Inspector.
