Locauto Rome airport,  dropped the car back off, slightly dirty. Locauto excepted it.
2weeks later over 300 Euros extra charge on top of rental. Apparently a slight scratch on the under side of the bumper, Where if you were to check you would have to get on your knees or even lie down to see it.
How many people will pay for this same scratch I wonder?
This was the 2nd time I have used them, the first time, the cars windscreen washer pipe was split and didn't work, when i complained they shrugged they shoulder, I said "in the UK we get fined for that" and they said " yes here too" I waited for them to get me another car ( over 1 hour later) they finally did.
You have been warned DON'T USE THEM

I am about to return a car to them and their website is down, which I needed to check terms on cleaning vehicle. Just found all your posts and horrified. Will call credit card company tomorrow to block them taking mobey just in case! NB Have had terrible experience with Firefly and Sixt. Are they all crooks?! They need some international regulations here.

I picked up a car from the Locauto dealer at the Bari Airport.  I do not speak Italian, but was traveling with an Italian citizen, therefore he and the agent inspected the car together.   My friend pointed out damage to the rim of the left rear tire.  It was obviously old damage, and included a dent, scratches, and a rusted area in the metal.  The agent assured my friend he noted the damage, and then walked around the car to me to have me sign off on the inspection, which I did.  Upon returning the car, the agent noted the damage to the left rear tire rim, and said it was new and not documented.  We protested this and pointed out the rust on the wheel which could not have occurred in the short time we had the car.  He would not listen to us and insisted on charging 35 euros for the damage.  I asked to speak to a manager - none was available.  I asked to be able to write a note before signing to document that I was signing under protest and disputed the damage to the tire - the agent refused.  I tried writing it above my signature, but he canceled it out and told me I was not allowed "to write a book" but only to sign.  As we had a plane to catch, I had no other option but to sign.  I went to the agency in the airport and again asked to speak to a manager - there was none.  I asked for a complaint form, and was given a form to report damages to my insurance provider (rentalcar.com), but this was useless as of course my policy excluded tires.  I asked to see prior rental documents to see if this damage was previously reported, and suddenly the person I was talking to didn't understand English, and finally told me it wasn't possible.  Upon returning home, I looked up the company and found these complaints, which seem to follow a pattern.  I called my credit card company and they said it is not possible to block further charges to my card, and even if I have the card reissued, or if I should close out the card completely, the company can still make charges to my card.  Of course, after reading about the numerous instances where people have been charged for damages after returning the car, I am in fear of this happening.  It seems that there is little recourse once they get your credit card information.  I am not sure how a company continues to get away with this kind of fraud, and I have complained to Customer Services, rentalcars.com, and told them they should not be offering this company on their site based on these fraudulent practices.

BE AWARE OF LOCAUTO - THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS!!!
I went to collect the car in Cagliari airport. They "pushed" me to take an insurance in case of scratches or damage to the car as this wasn't cover in the price I had already paid (£150). At first I wasn't sure as it would cost another £150 (£15 for each day) but I agreed (my children were tired and wanted to go). Asked if I would get the money back in case the car wasn't damaged but they said no.
I chose locauto because they were cheap but, it turned up to be more expensive than the well known rental companies.
    LOCAUTO you are thieves!!

Hi everyone! I see you all have severe problems with this cheaters. They have taken seriously high amount of money from my account, too! I would like to ask if anyone of you have contacted any European service for protection of consumers. I would be very happy if we could all react in the same time against these [***], so that everyone finally know what type of business they do. I'm looking forward for any response! Thanks

LOCAUTO FRAUD WARNING*****July 2014 Rome airport rented a car from Locauto for 1 day, returned without a mark on it but no attendant ready to serve me so gave them the key and ran for the plane. A week later 1200 euro charged to my card for damage which they supported with photos of a different car, one covered in dust from storage somewhere.  It would be interesting to see the photos the provide to each person on this blog......probably the same car used by them to claim damage charges from everyone.   AVOID LOCAUTO OR YOU WILL BE SORRY****

    Frequent renter.
    STAY AVAY, FRAUD.
I rented a Golf from Locauto fand had it 30 houers,
The day after returning, they send me a mail that I will be charged  E 1.250 Deposit,  +E 100 for fuel.
The car was returned with full tank, and without any damages.
I took many photos of car after parked at their parking, that prove no damages.

    BEWARE OF LOCAUTO

Rented from Locoauto Napoli airport, via an online agency in July 2015. No staff to inspect car on pickup (so took some photos of the  one small piece of existing damage).  The car hadn't been cleaned and was quite dirty
On dropoff of the car (in exactly the same condition) - again no staff to inspect. In fact their office was open but there seemed to be no staff there at all, so was forced to park the car in their carpark  and leave the keys on their counter

A week later- just had a bill for over 1144 EUR taken off my credit card. They've sent me an email (which breaks it down as a nice neat 1000  for "damage" than then various associated admin fees)  So far, they've ignored my requests to provide more information on what damage they are claiming has happened

I'd put this down to some form of clerical error - but having read the 100's of similar stories here and on other sites - this looks like systematic behavior by this company

bloody hell I can't tell you how much I wish I had read these posts and realised the depths to which these sods will stoop. we are just back from a holiday in Tuscany. we picked up our car from Pisa airport at about 10pm on our arrival on 29th august - we were shown our car by a man using a torch on an iphone so all we could really pick up (black car, dark night, irritated young kids) were any major dents. not ideal but what choice did we have but to accept the car in good faith?
we had a problem with the windows steaming up excessively when we left and got little help (a bloke who said sorry I don't know why this is happening) and the only remedy was to drive the car with heating rather than aircon on - not an ideal situation when its pushing 30degrees outside) - however we endured this and dropped the car off after a lovely week in the middle of nowhere in Tuscany without hitch to be faced by an inspection that suspiciously went straight to a "scratch" running the length of the car low down - to be honest it was hard to even to see in the daylight (more of a mark than a scratch and definitely something that could have been t-cut out) so would have been absolutely impossible to see when we took the car in the dark. Naturally we disputed the damage and the practice of Locauto of having to hastily accept a car having only seen it with the aid of a "torch" on an iphone (we are 110% sure we did not do this) and suddenly the guy could not speak any English aside from the unhelpful comment "this is what you get when you take a flight at night" - REALLY? FFS? Anyway we refused to sign for the damage and I have today received an email to say that locauto have taken (wait for it) 1144.06 euros to cover the damage. We have been scammed and had beyond belief. Is it lawful to try to take the money from our credit card. We have explicitly disputed and not accepted liability. Can such transactions really be lawful? I can't tell you how angry and upset I am. These deceptive scamsters should not be allowed to trade.

    Never use LOCAUTO!!!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!
We rented Citroen C4 Cactus at Malpensa Airport, the conditions for car inspection were very usual for airport rental companies – dark parking, so, we walked around the car, there were no visible damages, more of that – the car was just wet after car wash…
On return Locauto representative turned on flash light at her Ipad and inspected the car extremely carefully like nobody did before. She pointed on one small dirty spot at trunk spoiler and told it was a scratch. We had no car accidents during rental period and refused to sign the document, but a few days ago Locauto charged 370 euro from our credit card.

NEver ever use this company. Booked with Alamo got locauto. Charged for one way drop off which was not our deal with Alamo. Charged  us 184 e when they said it would be 84. Then found the mysterious scratch would you could not see when you picked up the car because it was dirty and you had to lie on the floor to see it. A complete scam. Charged us even though we had insurance. Do not use ever ever ever!

NEVER USE LOCAUTO, PLEASE: I rented a car for one single overnight. When I returned it next morning they marked scratches in 3 wheels which already existed before but they haven't marked at checkout time because they clearly looked like usage marks, not damage. Then they charged me 219 euros (120 for scratches + 81 of admin fees).

Sadly Locauto Pisa Airport attendants have struck again. We've been stung with the same pre-existing dent claimed as our fault trick.

This one is so laughably small, about 1mm.

Collected car in the dark, a black Audi, in an unlit part of collection zone, and yet noted to attendant this significant scratches alongside passenger side. He waived this off as superficial. We never got a chance to note the damage.

Upon return, a dusty car, but the attendant knew immediately where to look for this tiniest dent, which was clearly there prior along with significant scratches.

430 euros they are trying to scam from us.

I wish a plague on the rotten [***].
