Charging consumers without disclosing the terms of your offer is fraudulent.
Automatically sending advertising messages to cell phones is illegal under TCPA.
FTC TSR for "negative-option" telemarketing with "pre-acquired account information" places specific requirements on the telemarketer to make sure that the authorization is "verifiable" to be valid, and defines "verifiable authorization". Lacking the required "verifiable authorization", any claimed authorization is invalid, and any resulting charges are unauthorized and fraudulent.
I sent a txt back to athedo@hotmail.com, my reply read: "I do not know you, do not ever txt me again. You were warned." They did not reply back.
here are a few things that are especially annoying about this...
1) I DID NOT signup or use any service from this company. EVER!
2) I NEVER give my phone number when I sign up on web forms. I am an adult and certainly no fool, I have been using the internet since before google and yahoo were around...
3) I am very sure no one I know would sign me up as a joke, and besides very few people even know my number, perhaps as few as 10 people have this number. (i'm paranoid hehe)
4) I am on the government's do-not-call list, perhaps this is an attempt to get around that?
Sooo the question is WHO sent me this txt message... Is this an email/txt sent by the company itself or a random trouble maker? Regardless, I WILL find the persons responsible for this.
They come pretty regularly, and always with the same pregenerated message. She hasn't responded back to my messages or really been online at all that I can see, leading me to believe it's a virus infection using her account to spam the message out.
It could be that the virus isn't even on her own computer but someone else's she might have logged into aim with. Just curious if you could provide any further insight.
Thanks.
they gave a pin number, but i dont remember signing up on any website.
I thought someone used my number or something like that.
i dont know if im gonna respond or not. Also there is another number i received. Its 13155031325 they said on their txt was"thanks for signing up with VoteMeHot! to cancel your 49.99/month subscription pls. reply to this txt with the 4 digit pin number provide in the previous text along with the word"REMOVE"
i dont know what to do right now..
Do i get charge when i received this txt?
