I have 2 front load washers which omit a smell during the wash cycle.  I've used bleach and front load cleaning tablets but the foul smell still persists.
Recently, I found information on the web that these machines gets that fowl smell which get into your laundry  because of a mold growing inside the drain hose and other interior parts of the washer. The only way to rid the washer of these smells is to clean out the drain and install a washer fan to prevent mold from coming back. I called the Whirlpool customer support and notified them of this defect and was told that the machines are no longer under warranty.

I studied consumer reports for a number of months before buying the Whirlpool Duet....never was this problem mentioned.  I am 72 years old and was glad to have so many experts' help choosing what was presented as a quality product....Shame on Consumer Report, etc, and Whirlpool!!!   At least,Utensils with which to clean the gaskets, etc, and clarity of how  to handle  this problem should have been included in bold, bright print on front of machine.  We were led like goats to slaughter!  Where do we join a class actiion suit??.
