This washer lid has a design flaw.  I have contacted whirlpool several times and always get the same response that this is not a 'known issue or recall item' which is ridiculous.  This is the 3rd time my lid has broken near the hinge.  Whirlpool is fully aware of the design flaw since the newer model has a solid lid.  They do not stand behind their product.  Their recommendation is to have a 'technician' come out to evaluate - at the consumer's expense - WRONG answer.  Terrible product!
