He didn't give his name but said I owe a Payday Loan Company money from....get this...2013 - yeah okay.  So I said well you know I too work in collections before and now in the legal field.  If you could send me the documentation showing this "loan" I apparently signed off on, I'll give it to my atty. and we'll call you back to work out a payment/settlement arrangement.  He said documentation...we don't have that...how don't you I asked.  He said well if you pay, then we can give you the documents as proof but payment has to be made, blau, blau, blau.  Then they call NY to harass my Mother and Brother which I don't even know how they got their numbers as I don't even use them on anything as a reference for absolutely NODDA!  This damn internet is a curse in itself unfortunately.  Like although we've advanced w/in technology, we've declined in humanity and all our business is out there in "Cyber World" and this is the outcome of such! smdh

Anyhoo, I haven't heard back from the young man since I advised I work in the legal field and need documentation to prove such claims of me owing anything.  But they are still calling my relatives unfortunately but he thinks he's getting something out of my mother - NEGATIVE!  I've spoken to her and assisted w/how stern she has to sound otherwise they pray on the weak and vulnerable...dang on shame if you ask me.  Go get a real job buddy and leave innocent ppl. alone.  I will report this to ScamAlert.com next and all others so as to assist another who will be subject to these horrible, rude even, type of calls.

    It's a shakedown racket..
The fake "payday loan" is just a pretense for harassing and threatening people to get money out of them.  Harassing relatives particularly parents or grand parents, is a common tactic that pays of in this scam, to "keep Johnny out of trouble".

ALL of the complaints report a similar story to yours.  Haven't seen even one where the "payday loan" had any reality.

    File fraud complaints..
File fraud complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, the New York Attorney General, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  Report all details of deception, fraud, harassment of relatives, refusal to provide verification, etc.

    Internet's both curse and blessing..
This stuff happened before the internet. Difference now is you can look it up in minutes, find what they're up to, and file complaints with authorities minutes later.

    The curse..
The curse is irresponsible skip-trace companies, like Accurint, datawhore to scams. They'll sell your relative contact information to anyone who claims they're a "collection agency", making it easy to play the "harass the relatives" shakedown game, calling them "references" to hide the source, even help them get your SSN to sound like the "loan" is real.

    The CRAs aren't much better.
Check your credit files to see if these creeps pulled a credit report on you, to "collect" this fake "payday loan".  They'll sell these "collection agencies" your credit file, then sell YOU "credit monitoring" when it looks like you have "id theft".
