a very foreign sounding man who gave his name as "Office John" from American Credit services called and asked me to verify last digits of SS number before he even stated why he was calling.  I have been receiving calls of this type form various "agencies" for over a year - all with the same message - I have commited fraud.  When I explained that I would not verify any information about legal matters over the phone he asked for my manager (he is calling me at work at a school and should know that I do not have a manager but a supervisor or principal!)- She happened to be out of the building, but he said he would call back in an hour.  That hour has come and gone.  How do we stop these calls from frauds??? I am tired of receiving them here and at home.

    Hi
I looked these guys up. I hope you never gave them your numbers.
    http://www.credit.com/blog/2009/02/american-credit-services-loan-scam-alert/

They are nobodies. Worthless scammers.  Be as mean as you want to be to these guys. Tell your boss someone is trying to scam your credit card. If they call the principal he/she will be ready.

when presented with surprise bills from unknown sources. I say,
"Send me a signed contract from when the account was created. If you cannot provide one do not call".
I then save their number in my phone and set it to a silent ring-tone.

IMPORTANT: Do not falter or get nervous. The more sure you sound the more they will get nervous. Be mean. You dont know them and you owe them nothing.

These particular crooks are scammers calling from India.  All their "debts" are fake.  They make illegal threats safely from thousands of miles away, but they can't carry them out.

I have also been receiving these calls for almost 6 months now. All different phone numbers and all different company names, but all for the same purpose. I report every # and "company name" to all the agencies (FBI, BBB, Police, etc). The more you report it the more people will be aware of it and hopefully the agencies like the FBI are investgating so they can shut these guys down.

I agree with Edward, I have been icredibly mean to them when they call. I will tell you they don't scare easily, they laughed when I mentioned the FBI, they called me names, called back and left scary threatning messages on my cell phone, but obviously they are from the middle east and can't do anything to you.

    Hope this information helps.

It's a scam, run from India, nothing more.

All they can do is harass and threaten.

As long as you respond in a way that leads them to believe they can con or coerce you, they will keep trying.

Report them to the FBI, and whenever they call tell them you have done so, and that you are recording the call as evidence.

They are just trying to scare you, there is no such thing as a debtor's prison. If they are continuously trying to harass you there are attorney's that will file lawsuits on your behalf. Trust me it works they will stop calling you. The attorney I got didnt charge me anything they just took a small percentage out of my award the courts gave me

Hi Kim. This is a scam. Don't give them anything and if you have already paid them' you need to make a police report. Collection agencies send bills not random phone calls. And they do
nt ask for round numbers like 4500. They ask for exact amounts like 456.77.  They called me and I have no Dept whatsoever.  This is a scam.
