    This shows up.

Note that there are numerous complaints mentioning "QAR LLC" indicating threats similar to your experience, as well as several denials apparently from some company called "Quality Asset Recovery LLC", claiming they are unrelated to this "QAR LLC".

    You found these complaints:
    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-778-0624

The pattern of yours and other complaints, including first contact threats of court action and its consequences combined with refusing to provide any proof of the debt, is consistent with phony "debt collection" scams, including many located in the same Buffalo NY area as this outfit is apparently located in.  They use threats to panic consumers into paying alleged debts without checking our whether the debt is even owed, or whether they have any right to collect it.

These practices are illegal and violate FDCPA and state debt collection laws, for abusive and harassing tactics, falsely claiming they are going to take actions they don't or do not intend to take, often failing to send the FDCPA required "g" letter that debt collectors are required to send within 5 days of first contact notifying you of your right to dispute or obtain validation of the alleged debt, and for deception for claiming that you can't dispute it or get any proof of it.

This pattern is usually reported in cases where some rogue "debt collector" is basically running a phone extortion racket, "collecting" on phony "debts", or with no right even to collect on them.  In many cases, they pull credit reports and use the information they find there to concoct a phony debt claim around some account they find there.

Over the last year, the New York Attorney General has prosecuted a number of such "debt collectors" from the Buffalo area, obtaining convictions for larceny in a number of cases.

Contact the New York Attorney General immediately to determine if this company was legitimate, or if they violated federal or NY law.

Given the above, it is highly likely you may have been scammed into paying someone you did not owe.  You can reverse fraudulent payments by disputing them through your bank as fraudulent, after which you would be wise to close the account or block the card number to prevent additional fraudulent charges.

If you wait more than 6 months (I believe that's the time frame) you may not be eligible to reverse such payments.

I started getting these calls a few months ago.  Since I don't answer my phone often they leave an automated message.  When I do answer the phone, they put me on hold with an automated voice asking me to hold for a representative!  Yeah right, of course I hang up, don't have time for this crap.  They call pretty much every day, have not had chance to talk to anyone.  This last call they told me that due to the economic problems with our country they are willing to settle my debt for much less than what owed.  I have yet to learn about this debt or have a debt verification letter mailed to me.  Sounds like they are scammers.  They are not even licensed to practice debt collection in my State.  No threats yet but then I have not been able to speak to a live person.  This can go on forever evidently, them leaving me messages.

I set payment arrangments up with qar and was supposed to recive an e mail showing payment schedule, no such thing has been recived and a second payment has already been deducted. I called Better Business Bureaus
and this company has the lowest possible rating of F on a scale of A+ to F. Watch out for this company I have a strong suspicion it may be a fraud.

I started receiving calls from this so-called QAR.  First a woman started calling me, when I didn't return her call, she started calling me with threats of embarrasement if I didn't call her back.  Now I get calls from a man named Dan with leaving suttlte threats not as nasty as the woman whose name I forgot what it was.  The number comes from a 716 area code but on their messages the number is a 866 area code.  Go figure.  They won't leave me alone.  Today I received three phone calls, one as late as 7:40pm.  Have no fear as they will not get any answers especially any bank account numbers.

You need not do anything. Under FDCPA, you do not ever have to answer or return their calls. Second, if you do answer and ask for a copy of the validated debt, and it is not provided within an allotted time frame, they legally cannot continue to try and collect. Most states give a legitimate agency 30 days to supply validity of the debt once it is requested.
Do NOT ever give out any personal information if they are not willing to validate the debt.

Rest easy everyone. i used to work for the company, they may have some rude collectors but its no scam, i know the phone calls are usually pretty annoying but thats what happens with some much of the population in debt. any unauthorized transactions should be prosecuted that goes without saying, in my time there i didnt see any issues with that. i got alot of peoples debts cleared up and alot of people thanked me. granted i was one of the more polite collectors but either way, still not a scam.

Oh yeah??  they have a "sister company" (their words) Adams Law Office.  They are harassing me to death on a phone number I have had for years.  I have no idea who the party they are looking for is.

If you really did work there you would know about all the illegal tactics used by the company to get people to pay on out of stat debt. Tricks like spoofing their caller ID to look like the call is coming from the local sheriffs office to claiming they will freeze your bank account and assets. This company is owned by Daniel Mendez and Diverse Funding who supply this company, as well as Danberg & Feinstein or Evans Law Offices or whatever name they now go by, with debt purchased for pennies on the dollar that is out of statute of limitations (SOL), meaning a consumer is not legally required to pay on the debt. Do not pay this or any company any money on this type of debt. If you make even a $5.00 payment it will, in some states, restart the statute of limitations which is exactly what this company hopes for. So to say this company is not a scam is not entirely accurate.
