Country: United States
We had an issue with Compass Bank. There was an amount in question, we got the account zerod out. TRS harrassed us for a very long time until I got the AG on them. Now our name is on the LIST and some places will not take a check because we are on the list. HELP.

Contact Telecheck to obtain a copy of your credit file to determine what TRS Recovery is reporting against you. Since your checks are being turned down by merchants, that is an Adverse Action, and Telecheck is required to provide you a copy of your credit file at no cost.
Dispute any errors through Telecheck. They are required to forward the dispute to the data furnisher, in this case presumably either TRS Recovery or Compass Bank. The data furnisher is required to either correct or remove their errors, or certify that they are correct.
If Telecheck reports to you that TRS Recovery indicated to Telecheck that the erroneous information was correct, then TRS Recovery are liable for damages to you caused by their erroneous reporting under FCRA. At that point, contact an attorney with experience in FDCPA and FCRA litigation, and sue them. Both FDCPA and FCRA allow courts to award attorney fees, so you should be able to find an attorney in this field to take such cases on contingency. You might try www.naca.net
TRS Recovery has high levels of complaints of harassment and attempted collection against erroneously identified people, and doesn't appear to be able to fix problems reliably even after they claim they have done so.
TRS Recovery (and their relative, Telecheck) have a poor record of compliance with FCRA provisions requiring correction of erroneous credit reporting, and are showing increased levels of complaints on this site. They appear to think that since they are not under the same spot-light as the Big Three, they can be negligently sloppy and no one will do anything to them.
Their recent rise in federal lawsuits indicates attorneys think otherwise.
