Turned in to Collections and Credit Reporting Agency for someone else's debt!!

I have been a faithful customer with Direct TV for 13 years. I received a letter from them thanking me for my loyalty and for renewing a 2 year contract with them.
Day later, I get a letter from Collection Agency telling me I'm delinquent with Direct TV. I called the Collection Agency and straightened it out after several phone calls. They had the right name, but different account number, address, spouse name, and SSN. I thought it was all ok.
Six months later while refinancing my home, they ran a credit report and lo and behold, the delinquent amount for Direct TV was showing up on "MY" credit report and my credit score had suffered. I am livid. Called Collection Agency and they would not talk to me because I claimed I was not that person. Direct TV kept getting the run around. They offered no solution to the enormous error they made. Matching my social to someone else's debt when all they had was my name is not only unethical, but criminal. My credit score suffered tremendously and I could not refinance my home at a better percentage rate thanks to Direct TV and their unprofessional/unethical/shady business practices.
Needless to say, after 13 years, I will be cancelling my contract with DTV first chance I get. And I will report them to the BBB.
