Sunrise Credit Services Inc. claims we owe 18.00 for a subscription to Oprah magazine. Show me a magazine that will send you magazines before you pay. We did however at one time subscribe to this magazine but, once our subscription ended, we did not renew. Now this company is acting like they are collecting $18.00. NOT OWED BY US.

Since you mentioned you had a sub but did not renew, I suspect when you initially did subscribe, you did so under their "automatic renewal" program. Many magazines are pulling this trick. You have to read the fine print when you subscribe and it will mention the automatic renewal program. For Information: you should get a bill from them when it is automatically renewed. Either send it back marked "cancel" or, easier, go online to their website and you can usually access your account(have your customer number, etc. handy)and then cancel it out.
When you put a magazine sub on your credit card and you are under the automatic renewal, guess what? Your card is charged "automatically." That's one reason to NOT put a magazine on your charge or debit card. Also, most magazines DO send you the magazine before you pay. There is usually a "bill me later" box to check when you subscribe.
In your case, I personally would ignore the letter or if you want, drop them a note saying you don't owe this because you never subscribed to the magazine.
Another bit of info: never, ever use your own name when subscribing. Always use a different first name or even a made up name. That way if there is ever a problem like this, they can dun a fictitious person, not you. By the way, the post office delivers by address, not necessarily by name. I use a totally made up name or names and my address and the post office always delivers that guys/gals name to my home.
Any magazine that tricks you into the automatic renewal program does not deserve my business or consideration when they pull a stunt like this.

The publisher, Hearst, uses Sunrise to "retain" subscribers.  They routinely "retain" them with vaguely threatening letter that imply you "owe" for a subscription renewal you may not even have agreed to.

You might also get such notices from requesting a free sample of a magazine, just having had a subscription sometime in the past, or even for no cause of your own at all.

Notify the publisher and this subscription seller/debt collector you did not renew.  Do so in writing, mailed certified.  They generally go away.

I DO NOT WANT this magazine any more. Tried to cancel last year but they keep sending it then keep sending bills so I paid. Now I have another bill and cannot find a phone number to call and cannot get it canceled on subriotion cancellation page on internet. What a way to do business. I JUST WANT THIS CANCELLED. maybe the Attorney General of New York State can do something about this. Guess that's hoe I'll handle this.

Same problem as many others I've seen.  You cannot get this magazine cancelled without a tremendous amount of time wasted.  At first I only wanted to cancel or suspend receiving Oprah.  Now I never want to even look at another Oprah magazine.  No respect for customers.
