Refrigerator reliability

I have a LG refrigerator which is almost 5 years old.  In April of 2008, the water dispenser leaked causing the motor to freeze up.  I lost hundreds of dollars worth of food and was without a refrigerator for a month waiting for repairs/parts.  Now, nine months later, my refrigerator has simply stopped working.  I again have thrown out hundreds of dollars worth of food.  LG acknowledges the unit should not be failing like it is but refuses to do anything about it.  I find this appalling.
