Doors rust

Our Maytag refrigerator was about a year old when we noticed rust on the edge of the stainless steel doors. I called Maytag and they were nice enough to replace the doors even though the warranty had expired by their standards. Keep in mind, the warranty starts when you purchase the product, not when you install it. We ordered our appliances from Lowe's well in advance of our kitchen remodel so we would have them when we needed them. The time our appliances sat in Lowe's warehouse used up 2 months of our warranty.
Now, the new stainless steel doors are rusting and they are refusing to do any thing about it. Should stainless steel rust? Maytag doesn't seem to care whether their product performs the way they should. It's all about the warrany. Once the warranty lapses, they could care less whether their product blows up—that's the customers problem. Whatever happened to building a quality product that lasted and customers bought for generations? Obviously, that's a thing of the past.
My goal in writing this is to make consumers aware of appliance warranties. When I spoke to Lucas, a Maytag customer service supervisor, he informed me their products offered no warranty on the finish of the product. So, according to Lucas, the finish on your brand new Maytag appliance could flake off like dandruff and it's your problem regardless whether it's a manufacturing defect or not.
Remember: Buyer beware!

And if course they don't want to speak to me about the problem? Do I have any recourse? Anybody know? I wonder if Lowe's could make the company do anything besides telling me to clean up the mess that should not be happening?
2 hrs of phone calls has got me no where...
We were told to order from Maytag the stainless steel cleaner at our expense. We just received it and haven't used it yet. I will not buy Maytag again.
My refrigerator MODEL # MBL 225 8XES5 AND SERIAL # K24301261 was purchased in January 2013. Today is 6/27/2013 and with les than 6 months old RUST IS IN THE REFRIGERATOR DOOR, FREEZER DOOR and IN THE HANDLE>
DO NOT BUY MAYTAG this is a not cheap stainless steel model and is showing rust in all the stainless parts of the doors.
The company told me that the guaranty does not cover this cosmetically issues! They offer to send the technician at my own expenses. REALLY! The company already now that is a big defect in there appliances and they do not want to take the responsibility.
This is very bad publicity for the company and the way that they take care of the customers how trust in their appliances, but not anymore.
Something has to be done! I don't want to know what it will look like in 11 yrs... That's how long we kept out kenmore.
The company quotes "Dependency is our commitment to you".
Perhaps it needs to be restated as "FRAUD is our commitment to you!"
