I have been getting phone calls at work saying the call is coming from the law office of Brooks & assoc. His name was Mark Robinson, saying I was going to be arrested for failure to pay a loan, I have NEVER had a loan with this company!! How do I get them to quit calling me at work? I could lose my job if it continues.

if you've never had a loan with that company, how did they get your information? They didn't just pull it out of the phone book. Everyone that owes a debt with intentions on NOT paying will always look for a reason, ANY reason NOT to pay what they owe. Even saying they are calling me at work and I want them to stop. Here is an idea, try paying what you owe.

This is a typical fake "payday loan debt collector" acam.

"Mark Robinson" and "Brooks and Associates" are just aliases used by this scammer.  Sometimes they use the name of an actual payday lender, and sometimes they just make up a generic name.

Other complaints against this "Brooks and Associates".  They all report a similar pattern of illegal threats, violating FDCPA.  Note that the first post, from "Jackson", is a shill trying to convince victims they are real.

They get information from fake "payday loan application" websites, or sometimes from old records from defunct payday loan lenders.  Or they just surf the web until they find enough information on someone to try running the con.

Debt collectors are required to comply with FDCPA, which requires them to notify you IN WRITING of the alleged debt, and allows you do dispute it and request validation (proof) that you owe it.

Having identity information on you is no proof that any alleged "debt" is really owed, or that it is owed to the caller.  Using that ploy, or any other deception, or making illegal threats that you will be "arrested", "prosecuted", or "sued" are indicators of fraudulent phone extortion rackets.

Since you know you never had such a payday loan, you also know this is a criminal racket.  They are just phishing for some sucker who might have had a loan in the past, trying to con them.

Dave, you are just a liar who promotes criminal scams.  Go crawl back under your rock where you live.

Reports this may be an Indian scammer.  Additional aliases:  "Max Morris", "Eric Johnson".  Note confirmation with the real Cash Advance America that there is no actual debt.  Note that the shill "Jackson" is the first post here as well, trying to convince people they are real.
