I bought a maytag microwave in November of 2007 but did not use the product until the following year 2010 for Christmas while I waited for my remodeling to be completed. Thank goodness I had my 11 year old generic brand name microwave that has put the brand new stainless steel maytag to an open shame.  I bought the mocrowave to compliment the new stove and refrigererator from the same store and they did not want to even look up my serial number to see if I had an extended warrantly.  Didn't think I needed one. I just Knew maytag would last at least as long as my generic microwave that has surpassed Maytag's.  I think there is a lot to be said about "buying cheap"; it really pays!
