I have a British Airways Chase credit card that I have used since 2007. I changed my “location” on my executive club site from the United States to the United Arab Emirates to in 2009 to see what was being offered for flight information while I was there…I didn’t change the setting back, simple mistake on my part. I did not change my identity, I did not change my nationality, I did not change my mother’s maiden name…I did not stop paying my credit card payments, but BA and Chase have said that I am not eligible for the Avios I should have been collecting during that period of time 2009-2011…no big deal right? How about 170,000 Avios (my estimate). I think that’s a big deal to outright deny to me those Avios (by the way Avios is a stupid word). I used the card, paid the bill…simple. Give me the Avios.

I would appreciate hearing from some other frequent fliers on this sight…am I out of line asking for something I paid for?

Avios are the biggest bunch of cowboys out there. I would advise anyone to stay well away. You can't actually talk to anyone about missing points allocations, they only accept emails and then you have to prove everything, even a simply web purchase clicking through the Avios website does not work. Not worth it at all - Avios, you are a disgrace!

    BA boycotter
Avoid Avios and BA. I complained about program changes they made wherein my regulat flights went from 40,000 to 70,000 miles plus fees, taxes and surcharges under their new program called Avios.  All this when they said they were improving their program and that they were making only minor changes.  When I wrote to them thay told me that "we need to make sure each one of our flights is profitable".

I'm going to sue them.  Use your state or provinces consumer protection laws. You may find they override the contract you have with your credit card and BA.

In my opinion they are an unethical outfit. Don't fly them, boycott them and tell all your friend's and business contacts.  At our office I am making sure that we don't book another flight with BA.
