Dirt devil hand held Hoover

My daughter had bought for her a dirt devil hand held Hoover. Within months the Hoover brush stopped rotating. Because she worked full time was unable to sort it out until she was off on maternity leave. By the time she phoned them it was out of warranty.
My son also bought one witching day the same happened to his which he returned.
The same problem with the same Hoover.
I have had one for 20 years and it is fantastic,still good, but looking outdated, I will never change it for a new one unless it stops.
I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problems with the dirt devil hand held Hoover.
