rust on door around icemaker unit

This refrigerator is white.  The unit works great but looks terrible due to the rust.  It is not covered under warrenty. Cost to replace the door is upwards of $500 now.  The ice maker now does not work, the touch pads are worn off and the entire segment below the icemaker on the outside is rusted.  Maytag is not the quality product I thought I was buying.  NEVER AGAIN would I have a MAYTAG product in my house.  I would not even accept a "give away".  I bought a washer that needed service at the tune of $700 after 4 years!!! REALLY.
