I ordered Dish in March of 2012 after I was told they had certain channels I liked in High Definition. Then I was told I had a 30 day grace period and could cancel if they didn't have the channels I liked in High Definition. When they installed hardly any of the channels I was told were broadcast in HD, not only that some of the channels were in disputes with Dish and were not even carried at all. Called and canceled as soon as I saw they were not delivering on the promised channels. Not only that picture would freeze on a clear day. They said there was no grace period and I could not cancel and I refused to pay the bill. Here it is 4 months later and they take an unauthorized payment from my wife's payroll card a card I asked to be removed from their files and they completely emptyed her account, now there is no grocery money for my son to eat on and we are behind now on bills and I am a disabled Vet. Called to get the money refunded and they refused and acknowledged I may have been misled but I signed a contract. It is ashame people are drawn into contracts with false and deceptive practices and they are can remain as a binding document. The 1st false claim should have voided this contract, but some companies will tell you anything to part you with your money. I have had Direct for months now and they matched Dish' promotion and I got 2 times the amount od HD channels.
Comments
If they have a card or account number in their system, they will use it.
File a fraud dispute with the bank over the unauthorized charge, and contact your state Attorney General regarding "bait-and-switch" deceptive marketing, which may be in violation of state law.
If you get any bills from collection agencies (probably AFNI), respond with a dispute letter mailed certified.
