I installed Trend Micro for a 1 year subscription on my mother-in-laws's computer. This expired almost 9 months ago; we did not renew. I removed the software and installed a free virus scanner.  Last month she found a charge for $49.95 on her credit card from Trend Micro.  We contacted them and they said they would refund the money. Instead of a refund she received an email stating that she must fill out a destruction form letter.  She was not told this email would be sent to her.  She found it in her inbox about a week after it was sent. When she tried to reply, the link opened a statement saying that the time limit had expired, and now she had to contact customer service again.  What a scam!  She is 70 years old and has been very upset about this whole situation.
We had re-contacted these scammers again and are waiting for a reply.
I would never recommend this company to anyone. They should be prosecuted for this action.

IF the charge was not authorized, always dispute through your bank, regardless of whether you also try to reverse the charge through the merchant.

You want to make sure that your bank or credit card company has received a written dispute sent to their dispute address within 60 days of the statement date of the statement showing the disputed charge to conform to the FCBA dispute process.  Contact your bank immediately, then follow up with a written dispute, mailed certifed.
