Recieved a call from a man named John Nelson, with very thick accent. He put his Supervisor, Anthony Johnson, on the phone, upon my repeated request,  demanding $956 to be paid immediately to a business called Cash Advance America for an alleged loan he claimed my wife failed to pay over a year ago. Never had a loan from them, never heard of them. He said if she didn't pay today that another company called American Law Division had a "senior" attorney ready to file suit against her tomorrow in "Oklahoma Court" for over $4000 after attorney's fee's. He had the last four digits of her social security number. He never could furnish our address. He claimed her employer was also being "investigated." He also called my wife at her work place earlier in the day. He told her she had failed to take care of her business and that she would "end up behind the bars."  She continued to ask for a Supervisor and was told by Anthony that he was the Supervisor. She asked for his Supervisor because, while he claimed to be American and had an American name, his accent was so thick she could not understand a word he was saying. He then started talking really quickly and shouting. She just kept shouting back for him to put someone who could speak English on the line and he hung up.  He also told her his company had sent 18 emails that had gone ignored. ROFL! Of course, those types of emails always get deleted!  Not a letter or correspondence one.  Just the emails... which, upon sifting through my past email logs were not found.  My wife was very upset and I told her it was a scam and I'd be able to find something on the internet to prove it. Of course, I have found that proof here. You'll also note, they never put a phone number on their web sites.  I'll have to see if they keep calling before I try to take any legal action, which I doubt would do any good since they are foreigners. I suppose I'll play along and make them mad everytime they call... who know's it might be fun!

I got a phone call around 5:30 est on July 20,2011  from a man with a thick Indian accent telling me  thattherewas an affidavit/pending lawsuit against me, due to an unpaid loan, and that he was giving me the option to reconcile the loan before the lawsuit was made official.  I was completely mortified. I didn't understand anythig he was saying...was I really being sued? Did someone use my information to apply for a loan? Should I give this man my info, in order to avoid this pending lawsuit? I didn't know what to do.
I am pregnant, I was sitting in my car(I answered on my Bluetooth) crying, my baby son was crying in the backseat...the man on the phone was advising me to calm down and told me he was there to help. He kept urging me to pay...but I explained to him my concerns with giving a total stranger my bank/social security info. He was very convincing and charming...but I ended up ending the call without giving any info.

I then went on my phones Internet browser and found a TON of messege boards like this one, and was able to confirm that it was a scam. Thank God I didn't give my info....
The number they called from is 603-214-9001.

I want to contact authorities to complain, who should I call?? The local police? Did anyone else complain? I just want to prevent this scam from happening to someone who can get roped in.

Same thing just happened to me, told me if I would have a lawsuit filed on Monday, I have NO idea what they are talking about and they called from a number 0000, should of never answered the phone.  How do these people get away with this, it's ridiculous.  I'm glad I am not alone in this.  I was scared at first, but then I got thinking I dont even know what they are talking about so I thought I'd better check it out further.

I have been receiving the same calls, even emails. I asked for the original creditors info and they refused to give it to me.  Alot of common words misspelled in emails, THICK ACCENT, and alot of background noise. So I blocked the # from coming to my phone, and they started calling me from other #s that were more than 10 digits long,as well as overseas, and other state area codes and sent me emails saying Im running hiding etc. Also within the email the supposed rep last name changed several times throughout the email.  Supposed to be located in NY, and calls from 347-491-3981, and the email they use is not a business/company email, its from a gmail account.

I have also had this happen to me numerous times.  The phone company issued me a new number and the "Cash Advance" people continue to call asking for "Helen Gracey".  I have explained to them well over 10 times that this is not her number, and to never call my number again.  A week later they call back.  They just called again and I explained that this is harassment and if they continue to call, I will get a lawyer involved for harassment (yes, this was an idle threat). The guy got very flustered and hung up.

Is there anyway to get this to stop?!

I just got the call not even a half hour ago, identical to what the above comments and posts are describing. When I said I want proof because I pay everything in full. I told her I could not understand her and I needed someone who spoke better english to get on the phone. She said someone would call back, someone just did and I repeated what one of the comments above told me to do. I told him that I was recording the conversation and evidence and I would be reporting them to the FBI because they are extorting money out of people who do not owe anything. They called from the same number every time 214-449-0158. When I tried to call it bakc to see if I could get a business name, it does not even go anywhere I have never seen anything like this before.

I am also receiving the same sort of phone calls, however it is to my work phone. I answered the phone like any other time and was instantly threatened by them stating that they were coming to my house and going to arrest me. They also threatened my coworkers if they wouldn't produce me immidiatly. The man had an english name but severely thick accent from the middle east I think.  The said I would be in jail by the end of today. I called the police and when they attempted to call the numbers back they were to a fax machine... Even if I/my coworkers tell them that this is a place of business they hang up and call back less then 20 seconds later. When I asked them to provide evidence of this alledged "loan" they hung up. I have called as many people about this as I can. They provide different names and phone numbers each time. I find it hard to believe that that many people could be working on my "case". Is there anyway for them to stop calling my work?

    Frustrated About This
I've gotten several calls like this in the past month. They all have very strong middle eastern accents. The first call I got was from Frank Olson claiming to be from American Law Division. He stated that I was in a lot of trouble and crimes pending and that I needed to call him back, that if I didn't respond I'd suffer serious consequences, then he wished me luck. I received another call about a week later, this time from Mike Anderson - American Law Division and that he had a federal investigation against me, made the same threats and wished me luck. I just got a voicemail this morning from "Special Investigation Officer, Steve Johnson, with the Department of Crime and Justice." He stated that I needed to contact them immediately regarding the criminal case against me and my social security number, he too, wished me luck and said god bless me.
The numbers that have called me are 213-545-6548 and 914-269-4450

I live in richmond,va, this happened to me today.  I had applied for a cash advance online and received one, but NOT from Cash advance america.  After leaving an appointment, I noticed that I have 5 missed calls back to back, one voicemail about a lawsuit.  I ignored it, i knew it was a scam, then they called again about 30 mins later, I answered, a man with a think accent told me that I was being sued, at first he wouldn't tell me by whom, he tried to get me to confirm my information which i refused to do and i told him i wanted to know who was suing me, he transferred me to his supervisor who again, tried to confirm my information which i would not do, then he told me that cash advance america was going to take me to court because they deposited $300.00 into my bank account and that i never paid it back.  He then tried to confirm my social, date of birth, and address, I told him I was not confirming anything with him because if someone was truly suing me they wouldn't be calling me on the phone to confirm information, he got loud with me and said he was going to disconnect the call, I said ok.  I am not concerned with closing my bank account at this point, they haven't tried to draft anything and i didnt confirm any of my information, but I will be keeping an eye on it.  DO NOT apply for a pay day loan online!!!  I will never do that again!

I am receiving the same phone calls! They called my work and I have only been there a few months. They have all my personal information...everything! They said I needed to pay $823 today and if they had to go to court then it would be $8,000~. They said that if I didn't pay that an officer would come to my house and take me to jail. I was on the phone with the "attorney" Leon Johnson forever telling him that I don't know this company and that I never took out a loan in the past year or ever! The numbers that they are calling me from are 213-550-1632, 646-416-9033 and a fax number 206-600-2513. Things didn't seem to add up so I looked online and found this website, I am glad I did because this helped a lot. I am just concerned about the information that they have. I did file a complaint with the ftc.gov and I will record the conversation when they call again!

Same story as all above - sickening. Coming from 510-473-4970 claiming to be the Federal Department of Fraud Investigation. They are also calling the references I listed in the application. I applied online for a loan, was approved from multiple lenders (it was a one-stop-application that submits to multiple lenders), but never took out the loan. I will be looking for a way to take action. This is ridiculious!

I had them call me before but I let it go because of the type of account I had and I knew I never recieved a loan from them, but just recently I have been back trying to get a loan and I did get it and now these fools are trying to tell me the same thing they must really think all americans are dumb.  I simply told him this time "if you are a true law firm and this is not a scam then do it the legit way and send me something in the mail a written letter not just calling me".  If somebody know the number for DC or MD complaint for the FTC I would appericiate it.

    Wrong Chick to Harass!
These indian motherf**kers keep calling my job phone saying that I have a lawsuit against my social security number. When I asked the [***] what my number was, he couldn't give it to me. First strike. Then I asked him when I took the loan out, he said 2002, I was still in high school. Second strike. Then I said that if in fact there was a lawsuit against me, email me a letter with his company's letter head that I can take to my local county office and set up a court date with my personal attorney present. He told me he can not do that. He must take payment over the phone! BULLSH*T!!!!!! Strike THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I hung up on him. In a matter of 20 minutes, they called me 14 times! No exaggeration!!!! That is freaking harassament! So the 14th time, I had my supervisor answer the phone and tell him to stop calling. He said no. He said he will call and call and call! I proceeded to cuss his ass out but I had to remember my boss was there! I need a way to nail these [***]!!!!! Can someone tell me who I can report this to.....?

    Wrong Chick to Harass
Don't be scared! They can not take you to jail until they PROVE the crime committed! So, they would have to take you to court first. So dont sweat it! I told them take me to court because the only way I am paying anyone anything is if the judge orders me to! PERIOD!!!!

I am from Texas, all these stories are about the same as everyone's...they call me at work only they dont have my cell. They said the original loan was 200.00 and it was deposited in Feb 2011, no exact date. Gave me a case number, said his name was Rox Murphy and the phone number was 786-275-5066 He also stated that I would be charged with Grand Theft, Money Laundering and all other sorts of stuff. I do work for the Government, but the thing that scares me is they have all of my information, address, social, everything. I will report this to the credit bureaus, and have them put a flag on my credit report.

It seems as tho know one knows what to do with these ignorant a** holes and there going to continue to call our cell phones and work phones so the only thing i can think of is change ur cell phone numbers and have them blocked from ur work phones they call from numerous numbers so its gonna be hard. The report this to either a police station with all ur evidence or report to ur credit bureas or call this 1800-916-6519 and let them know your situation. Other than that curse them thr [***] out and tell them there being recorded and is under investigation with the F.B.I. Lol thats the best i can tell everyone . Me ima just curse them smooth the f***k out.
