Air purifier failure, waste of money

I Purchased an Oreck Air Purifier in December of 2011 for $399.00. I have severe allergies to dust and pollen as well as tinnitus so I needed something that worked well, had a good filter and provided a background noise. My previous air purifiers had lasted 15 years. They were simple, huge, and wonderful but the company had gone out of business. I reviewed as many sites as I could, they were 80% positive, and bought it.
For 4 months it did what it was supposed to do. The inner Truman Cell has to be cleaned about once a month. I followed instructions to the letter. Then I realized the dust in my apartment was building up everywhere. The unit itself was covered in dust and I'd already cleaned it!
I called Oreck, they led me through some questions, Then they said I had to go to a local Oreck Home store to get it looked at. I did. The Store guy said there was nothing wrong with it. I said there was. He said he'd clean it again. He did. THen he said he'd removed a HUGE amount of crud from the Truman Cell and it should work fine.
It didn't.
I'm writing this for anyone who is considering this purchase. Please don't!!!! Tell everyone you know that this is a waste of money. In my case it was a challenge to my health as well!
