Tech Support Scam Phone Call
Complaint

I just received a call from an Indian guy - (Don't blame India - they have fantastic tech support people- it's just that they also have these scammers).
He called from (866) 303-2007 extension 8024. He said his name was Jack Wilson but had a thick Indian accent. He claimed that he was with Dell and actually had the model number and service tag of my computer. Evidently, they have hacked Dell and Alienware and have access to that information. He also had my last name.
Anyway, my brother had a call like this recently, fell for it and opened his computer to them letting them load software on his system, etc. I helped him clean up the mess. We ultimately got him a new computer as the damage was beyond repair by him. Eventually, I will be able to fix his old computer.
I was very aware of the scam before it got started so I thwarted their attempt to compromise my system and get money out of me.
