Plight of Indian Railway Coaches

We were a group of 26 people travelling by 2484 Amritsar Kochuveli Express which runs weekly from Amritsar our tickets were booked for 16th Aug 2009 in Coach S-7 and S-8

The train was scheduled to leave amritsar at 6.00 am but it was brought onto the platform by a shunting engine and taken back into the yard 3 times by which the train was delayed by 1 hour it departed at 7 am

The condition of Coaches S-6 , S-7 and S-8 was a pity

1. There were no chains to hold the middle berth instead there were wires to hold the berths at night which had risk of braking and the person falling off

2. The junction boxes of electric connections over the side berths were hanging open

3. There were fans but the blades in the fans were missing

4. The swith boardswere there but without switches and in open condition

5. There were mobile charging points but broken and not working

6. The glass of the toliet window was missing

7. The TTE seat was missing only the back was there

8. There was a tap in the toilet but the basin underneath was missing

9. The metal flat strips spproting the side upper berths were loose and come away

10.The sunmica at bothe ends of the side lower berth was broken expeosing the inner surfaces

11. The Toilet Door was broken and had come off from the hinges.

This was the condition of a train which was going to cover such a long distance from Amritsar to Kochuveli I have photos in my mobile only if i could attach the same here raelly worth seeing

and we are told that the Indian railways is in profits and is providing the latest facilities does not seenm so
