Since October, 2010, there had been a monthly charge of $24.95 even though I have no account with this company and don't even know who they are.

My bank advised me not to call Sem-Value and it would call instead.  It advised me to wait ten to 12 days and I would get a form to fill out and send in to the company for the four months the money was deducted via direct access.  I am supposed to get the full refund and report to the bank if this does not happen.
According to the bank, it is alleged I ordered a product as a result of an infomercial.  During the transaction, Sem Value signed me up as a member and since I did not cancel the membership in 30 days it kept deducting the amount via direct access every 23rd of the month.  My wife discovered the transaction and the bank had me cancel my credit card and get a new one with a new pin number.  I am awaiting the full refund form, and if it does not come the bank said it would refund the full amount. I never joined any club or organization when I called the number on the television.

A charge for $19.95 showed up on my wife's credit card and she knew nothing about any purchase. We called our bank and they stated it was from SEM Value Plus made at 11pm on 10/30/2015. I went on line and found their website. I found a phone number (800-475-1942). I called the number 6 times. A few times it did not ring, but when I hung up, it would ring back to me with no one there. I tried a few  more times and the phone would ring, click and then go to a busy signal. I tried again and the phone rang and "Julie" answered.
II asked about the charge and she replied that back in October, my wife bought something over the phone (NOT through SEM Value Plus) and at the end of the call, she agreed to a 30-day free-trial membership with SEM VP. I explained that she did not agree to any membership and we never received any membership number, any instructions to use the membership, etc. Julie promptly volunteered a refund of the money and membership cancellation.
If you call SEM VP (and I recommend that you keep calling until your call goes through), that you demand membership cancellation and a full refund of your money. If you are persistent, they will do as you ask/demand. Please note that they are NOT a Better Business Bureau member, so your only other recourse is to file a complaint with the Minnesota Attorney General's Office.
I hope my experience with help others recover their money and cancel the membership.

    It's a cramming scam..
The company operates under the "plausible deniability" that some other company said "you agreed", but they will not disclose who this is, even though they must know it.

    A safer response is to..
File a fraud dispute through your bank, and block your card number or shut down your account to prevent further fraud and theft.  Your bank can reverse charges back 2 to 3 months if you dispute promptly, under FRB Reg. E or FCBA.  Recovering your money through a bank dispute is how the system is supposed to control this type of fraud.  It results in a chargeback fee to the charger, and raises their chargeback ratio, which is supposed to result in their payment processor cutting them off if it gets too high.

If you don't submit a bank fraud dispute
you run the risk that they will just string you along with excuses, or delays as they attempt to run out the 60 day bank dispute clock.  If you don't find a refund on your next statement, you may find they now want a "refund form", which you don't have.  They may promise to send that, and by the time another month goes by and you don't get it, they can safely keep your money knowing that no one will sue them over these small amounts.

    Bank fraud disputes..
recover your money under the dispute provisions of FCBA and FRB Reg. E, by the action of your bank, and do not depend on a dishonest merchant to agree to anything.
