I received a phone call stating I was approved for a 9200.00 all I needed to do I go to western union  with my I'd and ss# but I traced the number and it a cell phone in Washington no grant company is going to call from a cell phone they said I was chosen because I paid my taxes on time no bankruptcy and no criminal back ground .all I needed to do was go to western union with 225.00 and I would get. My money back in fifteen minutes the number is 202-697-9392

    Same thing happened to me what do I do to get my money back and how can I stop this from happening to other. They are getting people for money using the governments name and that should not be acceptable.

    They are using cheap VoIP phone service, so they can appear with a "Washington DC" area code.
    Usually, they are really overseas, often India.

    The same thing just happened to me but before I called the number that they gave me 202-621-0910 I checked the internet to see if any fraud complaints had been filed.  How do they get my telephone number and name?

    I  received that call promising 9300 they didn't say anything about paying back money though

    I just got call from 'unknown number" asking to call 202-657-6842. I was surprised, why would Govt efficiently call for money refund.

    Still a scam in 2014
    The number has changed but I got a call on this today. The number that called me was 909-089-8909. The person was not from the US. He said that my number was selected to receive a grant for $9200 due to my good credit. Their still trying after 2 years and the internet being so available.

    They called me today and their number showed up on my work cell as 0000000000 when I talked to the lady with a heavy accent she informed me to call (202)871-8933 with my grant id number of AM135.  When I called I was instructed to go to the nearest Rite Aid closest to work to recent my money from the Western Union, but I must call them back first to get instructions before I went in to complete the transaction.  It sounded as if they were going to meet me there.  When I asked if someone was meeting me there, she said no, we are going to be on the phone with you. It felt creepy to me so I came on line to check for scams and of course, its here.  The reason I was selected and everything, paying taxes, no bankruptcy.  Thank you for keeping us informed.
