    "About $3.88 + $5.47 they can't "

Not "they can't".  They won't.  They are choosing to profit from you being defrauded even when they reverse the charges.  Most other consumers are reporting that their banks are totally reversing these fraudulent charges.  Even other CIBC customers have not reported being ripped off like this.

Those are payments to CIBC, over an entirely fraudulent charge submitted by a widely reported fraudulent source that they have had other complaints of fraud regarding, and that the banks have NOT cut off for almost 2 months.

And as for your other terms,

5.47 interest on 76.69 is 7.1% for, what, 30 days?
Are they really charging you 85% APR?  Or is the period shorter, and the APR higher?

And did you actually sign up for "Credit Protector", or did they just "automatically" enroll you?
That ripoff just jacks your APR up higher, typically another 1% per month, adding 12% to your APR, and generally includes terms to make sure they seldom have to ever pay off.

Insist that CIBC reverse all charges arrising from this fraudulent source.
    Or switch to another bank.

Numerous similar reports of fraudulent charges are being reported on other threads.  It appears that "Digital Star Ltd." was "dissolved" on Jan. 29, 2012.  It looks like their merchant account is now under control of criminals submitting fraudulent charges.

If you are getting fraudulent charges, IMMEDIATELY block the card number, and submit a fraud dispute to your bank.  Your bank can reverse fraudulent charges if you dispute promptly
