"hail damage" when the NWS indicates no hail in the are for the entire time I rented

I was in a crash and rented a car from Enterprise for 10 weeks. Not only could I have purchased a used car for the money I spent renting it, I was informed there was "hail damage" to the car. I turned in the car during COVID so the office was closed, they came around a day or two later to check it in, then called me to tell me about the "damage". I didn't get the chance to see the "damage" before it was sent for repairs. ($3,358.37 )
My insurance has already paid all but my deductible, but I am a principle kind of person. How do I dispute this? I could easily just pay the $500 deductible and move on, but the principle of it all I can't help but want to fight it as I feel it is a scam. Any suggestions
