The same thing happened to me.  I merely received an SMS to confirm my subscription.  I did not subscribe as the telephone number used is a work telephone for work purposes only.  I phoned MTN who gave me a no to dial.  There were 2 subscriptions loaded on my number.  I cancelled both.  I once again received an SMS to remind me of my subscription.  I checked, there is nothing new loaded.  I don't know if money has been taken as I don't see the account.  Dial *141#, then option 2, then option 5, then option 4 content services, then option 1.  you can cancel it there.  Good luck, we are all victims of forced subscriptions.  Only if you don't bother to respond, you will pay!!!!

I too have been a victim of this MTN / Choconilla scam, which MTN claims not to be involved with. MTN is a dishonest business, like other SA cell networks. I will no longer deal with MTN. Good riddance MTN thieves.

How is it not fraudulent that content services can deduct money from your cell account without a positive "I allow that"? To get a cell contract, you have to jump through many hoops - bank statements, proof of address, RICA, etc. - but these criminals can just take your money. Is it allowable because such laws in Africa are just guidelines, or maybe because the government gets a kick-back, or why is it allowed? There's money in it for the cell vendors so that's why they provide the platform, but such fraudulent actions are illegal, so cell vendors should be prohibited from harboring these criminals, as then they knowingly promote fraud, which is a criminal activity.
