Broken frame on the couch - no resolution

I purchased a leather set (couch, 2 chairs & ottoman) from Macy's in April '07.  The frame on the couch was broken. Macy's assured me this would be fixed.  The room was designed around the furniture.  Several thousand $$ later and January 2008, there is still no resolution.  They tell me Chateau D'ax will not return calls or send the part from Italy (the frame) to them.
Funny thing...Macy's still carries furniture from this manufacturer and with the same type of base.  I'm so frustrated.  Macy's will refund our money however, it is now the principle after all I've spent - time, money, etc. to make this living room perfect.  Never again will I purchase furniture from them!!! This has been a costly lesson

OMG I bought a leather sofa and love seat by Chateau D'ax at Macy's last week and it is being delivered today.  Now I am worried that I bought a piece of junk and paid $2700.00 for the set.  I am wondering if the leather on some people's sofa is because they did not rub it down periodically with a good leather cleaner and conditioner.  Leather is a skin and you have to take care of it.  As for the broken internal pieces I cannot figure why so many have broken.  Children jump on furniture and so do large pets.  However, a good couch should withstand some of this type of use.  I guess I will watch it carefully the first year.  I didn't bother getting the extended warranty because you usually have to give blood to get these companies to pay up on them.

I can say that the service plan I got with my Macy's purchase did cover the problem I had with a loveseat. when the tech couldnot get a part they exchanged for a new one.

I just looked at two different models of chateau d'ax, both leather, one $500 more than the other - Olivia and Nick models.  First of all, I went to Macy's to find a clean-lined sofa for an apartment and could not find one I liked the lines of except leather.  After reading these comments, I am glad I did not let go of $900 to $1400 when my two criteria are comfort for my tall height and good build.  Not one of the fabric sofas met these requirements.  With all these negative experiences, does anyone know where you CAN get a quality sofa without spending a fortune?

I also purchased Chateau D'Ax Leather Furniture.  The sofa was purchased less than 3 years ago, we have never been happy with the sofa.  The cushions are sagging, the sofa looks like it is 10 years old.  I had a much cheaper sofa before I purchased Chateau D'Ax, it held up for many years.  I purchased my furniture from Macy's, it hard to believe they would carry such low quality furntiure, do not puchase furniture Chateau D'Ax. It is cheap junk!

Chateau D'Ax is a very big furniture company that produce their goods in many different countries all over the world. They will produce anything for you, starting with a low end product to top of the line modern contemporary heavy leather production that retailed in some chain or boutique stores for over $15,000 for a sofa love and chair.

You can easy compare them to Natuzzi in a way of operations and quality of product. In my opinion when you purchase a product that is made in northern Italy you will get a better deal in terms of quality and price from Chateau D'Ax than Natuzzi.
If you are planing to buy a leather 3 PC set in a range of $4,000-$6,000 retail value Chateau D'Ax will be a winner.

As an end client it is very difficult to understand what product are you purchasing and from who.Every model produced, could be feet to the retailer specific needs like : price , color, feel or design .
It is important to understand when you are buying from a large retailer their point of view is very simple : What is the net profit at the end of the year.
In this case, you as an end user loose . You might get a better leather on places you use and cheap leather quality all over. In the market today There are many cheap leathers so you actually not getting a good quality product. Now, if you paid around $1,400 - 1600 for a leather sofa you could find similar product a little cheaper but, you didn't overpaid and at list in your case you have Macy's that their customer service should take care of it somehow.
The Only thing I would recommend you for your next purchase is get the Chateau D'Ax product that cost only about 20% more, made in Northen Italy,Full grain leather all around the product and choose the higher grade. You will be safe for many years to come.
Get it in the higher end stores like bloomingdales or some furniture boutique stores.

    Hope it is helpful

Hi. We're considering buying the Stacey sofa from Macy's. It's on sale next week. I was wondering what your experience was after receiving the sofa. Any complaints?

I wish I read these complaints before I purchased my furniture.  Macy's delivered sofa and chair by Chateau d'Ax today. Just now, under the lamp light,I can see stains, worn sleeves, and scratches on the wooden legs.  It's definately used. They sent me the used furniture. I'm going to call the store in the morning. Chair is new and beautiful. Is there any suggestion.

I have a beautiful leather sectional but the frame is broken.  the set is still sold in Macy's.  Opened up the bottom and the frame looks like it was framed with toothpicks.  They used pressed bored pieces and 1x2 pine pieces to frame.  There is more expense in the leather than anything else. Chateux d'ax makes crap!

We also purchased a Chateau d'ax sectional from Macys. First one delivered had many small tears in leather. Second one delivered had broken frame. Third couch delivered (Natuzzi) had foam replaced in leather cushions only after 3 months. At four months the back started pulling apart in seams. Not cheap sectionals. We paid over $4000.00. Finally returned sectional and brought a Schilling from another store. Will not be purchasing any furniture in the future from Macys. Quality is terrible. Still have sofa in living room from Marshall Fields which is over 6 years old and still looks new.

I purchased a Chateau D'ax sectional couch from Macy.s and the corner seat sags and is depressed. Macy.s says Chateau D,ax needs to look at this under the warranty but they do not have a nuimber to call even on their website. Macy's should not be in  the furniture business with such poor service.

I bought a Chateau d'ax couch, love seat, and 2 chairs from Macy's (Famous-Barr) in October 2003.  I have had nothing but complements, and to this day they look as if they were bought yesterday.  No complaints about the brand.

I've had a Chateau D'ax brown leather sofa for about 8 years.  It's the only thing my husband and I sit on.   We've not had any problems at all with it.   It was purchased at Macy's in Birmingham, AL.   We've moved and drove over to Macy's today and bought their NICK Chateau D'ax sofa and chair in the cream leather.  I hope it holds up as well as the one we've been using.   I feel like I will be able to sell the old sofa at a good price.   It still looks brand new and all I've ever used is a damp cloth to clean it.   After reading these complaints I will certainly make sure to inspect it well when it's delivered and if anything appears wrong I will send the set back that day.
