Broken frame on the couch - no resolution

I purchased a leather set (couch, 2 chairs & ottoman) from Macy's in April '07. The frame on the couch was broken. Macy's assured me this would be fixed. The room was designed around the furniture. Several thousand $$ later and January 2008, there is still no resolution. They tell me Chateau D'ax will not return calls or send the part from Italy (the frame) to them.
Funny thing...Macy's still carries furniture from this manufacturer and with the same type of base. I'm so frustrated. Macy's will refund our money however, it is now the principle after all I've spent - time, money, etc. to make this living room perfect. Never again will I purchase furniture from them!!! This has been a costly lesson

I bought a Natuzzi couch from Macy's 2 1/2 years ago. The leather remains absolutely beautiful, but the frame on one of the sections broke and they no longer sell this couch. Macy's told me that aside from the insurance I bought (which only covers stains), the frame is guaranteed for ten years and they're willing to give me a full Macy's store credit, but I don't really like their current furniture line. Of the few couches they have that I can "live with" is another Natuzzi (which I'm obviously afraid to buy) and a Chateau d'Ax, for which people have complained about both frame and leather problems. If I could have my current couch fixed with a reinforced frame, I would. From the comments, I wouldn't be surprised if both Natuzzi and Chateau d'Ax are coming out of the same Chinese factory. From the comments, they both seem to have the same crappy construction. I don't know why they couldn't have built these frames around a couple of 2x4's. Those are also cheap, but they would last forever.
Before the Natuzzi, I had a couch from a company called Leather Center, which was a chain that went out of business. I had that couch for 18 years. At the end, the leather was shot, but the frame was still as solid as a rock. If I knew then what I know now, I would have found someone to recover it. I don't know this for sure, but my bet is that that couch was manufactured in the U.S. But I guess the company couldn't make a go of it.
Macy's it is a shame
FYI, I emailed a Macy's rep about the Worry No More Warranty. She said they switched companies due to all the denied claims and them not servicing the sofas as the warranty promised. I don't know when the new warranty company took over. She didn't deny that they had major issues with the other company.
