Linda Homer
Country: United States
Hello, my name is Linda Homer, I am complaining to your department concerning Ms. Dorma Grant. She has given you people my address and phone number as her place of residence. Ms Grant has never resided at my address which is 3950 N.W. 33rd Terrace, Lauderdale Lakes.

I received a phone call from your collection department on
Dec. 2, 2010 asking for Ms. Grant.  The phone number you have in your computer is my number which is 954 485-6819, please remove this number from your computer. Ms. Grant has given my address and phone number to many consumers as her place of residence.

I received a letter just the other day for Ms.Grant by the letter carrier, she informed me that Ms. Grant lives at 3950 N.W. 33 AVENUE NOT 33RD TERRACE. Please investigate the info. for yourself and stop bothering me.

Thank you

Ms. Homer (954 485 6819)

Odds are she never gave your address, since your two addresses are similar.

More likely, her address got corrupted or chopped, possibly resulting in returned mail.  When her creditor's collection agency searched skip-trace databases, your address comes up as a similar match, so they send her letters to your address.  They then reverse search on your address for phone numbers connected to it, and call you.

They are basically incompetent, with the minds of lizards.

If you receive letters to others, mark "not at this address" and return to the Post Office.  You are not a mail forwarding service.

If you receive calls for others, notify the caller to cease calling you, and that no such person can be reached at your phone number.  Debt collectors are required by FDCPA to cease communications if requested.

If they continue to harass you, notify them in writing, mailed certified, that they are calling your number in error, that you have told them to cease calling you.  Add "CC:  <your state> "Attorney General", and also file a complaint with your Attorney General.

If you have further problems, contact a consumer attorney, to investigate suing under FDCPA and TCPA.  Both allow courts to award damages and attorney fees, so there may be attorneys taking such cases on contingency.
