freecreditscore.com identity theft /scam

Just noticed that freecreditscore.com has been charging my bank account for a few months for their service. At first I was just mad because I knew that I had closed my account. Then I was livid after calling them about this. Here is how the conversation with the rep from freecreditscore.com went. I told the rep I wanted to cancel my account. She then told me that my account was cancelled and I should not be being charged for their service. Then she asked me for the account number of the card that was being charged. At which point she looked up the account and saw that there was someone with a different name using that account number to register for their site. Then she said hold on let me transfer you over to someone in our fraud department. At this point I knew they were running a scam. These charges had been occurring for a few months and if someone else had my account information they would not just be signing up for freecreditscore.com. Well instead of transferring me over to the fraud department she told me that they had blocked anybody from using that account on there site in the future and would refund the charges on my account. I am putting you on notice freecreditscore.com. I will be contacting my state attorney general this coming week. Forget the Better Business Bureau you are committing identity fraud and I will see you prosecuted.

Id thieves have discovered that they can buy people's credit reports using stolen card numbers through the credit report sites. The credit reports can be sold on id theft black market sites, and the card victim get monthly charges for "credit monitoring" and "id theft protection".
Rather ironic.
