In April this year our house was flooded. It happened while we were away visiting my parents. When we came back, we discovered that the water almost reached the second floor, and the first floor was completely ruined.

We had a flood insurance from Allstate, and contacted them right away to assess our damage. They came with a settlement amount of $35,000 dwelling and $19,000 contents.

We stated to ask contractors in our area for a quote to fix the entire house. Their estimated price to fix the house was in $58,000 $62,000 range which is nowhere close to the AllState's estimate.

Our flood insurance with AllState covers up to $86,500 for dwelling and $25,000 for contents. So we ARE covered for the repair amount. I don't understand how they can treat their customers like this.

On June 15,2012 I mailed a payment to Allstate Insurance for $1,412.00, went to the agent office to find out why my insurance is so expensive.  After paying that amount for years and asking why, was told that FEMA determines the amount, never mention because of a loan amount. The agent could not talk to me so I asked the manager why and she told me because of my mortgage amount of $121,000.00. After telling her I do not have a mortgage loan, I was told I could get any amount I wanted.  I cut it in half but was told I would have to pay the $729.00 to the agent now so that he can reduce the amount and Allstate would refund my $1,412.00. Here it is July 7,2012 haven't received refund yet.  I called  on the 20th of June and was told, it will be mail out on the 27th of June, called the Agent and was told it was sent out on the 3rd of July. It is now the 7th of July and haven't received it, why?

We got flooded during the Hurricane Sandy dated October 20, 2012. We tore up floors and walls because of the flood causing molds on our walls. After 2 months of our constant inquiries from them, they sent us a check of $12,600.00 for the structure, and we haven't heard from them about the contents. It's been 2 moths now!!

Are you kidding me!!!! Unbelievable!!! Why pay insurance if they won't be able to cover your loss when you needed them.

    Very unreliable insurance.

My house was badly flooded by Hurricane Sandy, as were thousands of others in the Long Beach, NY area.  I was unfortunate enough to have Allstate as my flood insurance provider.  They grossly undervalued the damage and when I submitted my contractor's estimate which was much more realistic, their customer service person was rude and dismissive.  Also, when I tried to reach their Adjuster who had seen my house (who they referred me to for questions), her phone number was discontinued and no messages could be left.  Everyone who I have talked to in this area who had Allstate Flood insurance is not satisfied with them.  I plan to cancel all my Allstate insurance policies.  They really stink.

Same here, my folks live in Long Beach, NY. Allstate only gave them $35k for flood caused by Hurricane Sandy. They had about 3 ft of water which damaged their first floor of a 35 yr old house. It measures about 1100 sq. ft, had a kitchen, full bathroom, 2 bedrooms, and the boiler room. NYS needs to take them back to the wood shed, and withdraw permission for them to sell any and all lines of insurance business to all New Yorkers.

A friend of mine received well over $100k from another carrier for his flood claim. A no name carrier at that.

Allstate has not done their part in the insurance game. It's a gamble, we purchase insurance in case there is a need for it and they are supposed to provide adequate coverage if the need arises. If you do not have any need for it, they keep the premiums and we all go on our merry way. Apparently though, Allstate has taken the position that they are going to undercut their policy holders after superstorm sandy and give us a fraction of what we should get. You need to call your local and state reps and tell them to get on this or they will not get ALL OF OUR VOTES!!  It is obvious that Allstate is working on dropping New York coverage, so they don't care about us.......and the funny thing is, it's not even their money they are paying us out with. It's the governments. It's all from the same pool that all of those other companies are paying out from....so, stay pro-active, don't give in to these schiesters!

For 14 years I have been paying close to 5,000. A year just on my flood insurance for a mortgage if under 200,000. I was just notified by my bank that back in 2012 our flood zone was changed and we are no longer required to carry flood.  Who is responsible fir letting us know of the change. I had been questioning the requirement since we are experiencing a drought for over 5 years now. Everyone is pointing the finger at everyone else. At one I. The last 3 years my insurance went up 500 and it caused a hardship. Where do I go to get answers?? Can anyone help me?
