Flavor Wave SCAM

Complaint

My 92 year old mother ordered a FlavorWave oven from Thane after  seeing their infomercial. She received the oven but did not receive the $59.85 Flavor Wave Chef's Kit that she ordered with it. They charged her an outrageous $39.90 for shipping also. I called Thane on her behalf and they said that they packed the chef's kit with the oven. They did not. I checked all the packaging and it was not there. They said that she would have to pursue a claim with the post office. They slyly billed her credit card for $69 and some change only and invoiced her for the remaining $132.50 which I assume they will bill to her credit card later. This rendered me unable to get any redress from her credit card company. I will be a thousand miles away and unable to take care of this by the time the second billing arrives. What a disgusting scam on an elderly woman.

I'm glad you posted your complaint.  I was interested in this item but I have been ripped off before.
Take your mother's information down and tell her to call you when her second bill comes in.  Make sure she gives you authorization to handle the situation with her credit card company.  File a dispute over the charges with the credit card company and then write a letter to her State Attorney General on her behalf informing them of what the company has done to your mother.
I have done this myself and gotten my money back.
I hope this information helps you and anyone else that sees it.

It is all to clear that Brandon works for the company.  After reading these reviews I will be informing my mother not to order this product.

Brandon, Your company is down. I just filed complaints with 4 online bureau monitoring agencies and the Attorney General. In one month or so, you will be feeling the hate hitting you hard. This was the last time your company will hurt innocent folks.

I like Rhea, above also have the same problem. I had mine less then 1 year and when I called to tell them it stopped working, they couldnt find anything that said I registered it. Just the extra pizza pan I got for it. How convenient for them. Now I have to see if I can repair it or not. Can anyone assist me where to service it. Thanks.

Who really cares? I surely don't. If you're stupid enough to buy something off of an infomercial of all places (especially something that comes off as shady as the flavourwave) then you deserve to get scammed.

Purchased a Flavor-Wave made by Thane on June 14, 2011. On first use of
the machine it burned out with a heavy electric odor coming out of the
machine.  I called the company, and they issue a return authorization because I had it less than 30 days.  They would not refund the entire price they charged me, and it will cost me to ship it back. With these terms I will have almost $40 dollars in shipping cost with nothing to show for it.
My opinion is all things have changed; do not buy over the internet as it will cost you dearly if an issue arises with repeat shipping costs.
    Buy locally.

This company sells junk, and doesn't support their product. When the oven breaks, and it will, you will find they don't repair them, don't have any replacement parts for DIY, and no longer make them so there is no replacement. I've had two ovens, paid well over $200, and they are both in the trash. Never do business with this company.

Wewwwww I thought I was alone. Good thing I found this site and made me feel better that there are also other people wanting flavor wave that their product is defective and that they should something to help their frustrated customer. My flavor wave dis not last long either. Its just all of a sudden stopped working.

I was given a Flavorwave Deluxe Oven as a gift.  It lasted approximately three months before major problems started occurring. Since it was still under warranty, I did what I would do with any other product that failed in such a short time, i.e., contacted Thane's customer service department via the email address on their website, explained the issues and requested assistance.  Both of my emails were answered using quite flippant, obviously scripted, answers from the same customer service rep, stating they no longer carried the product nor parts for it.  Inquiring about their much advertised "iron clad money back guarantee" was useless.  After now reading the numerous complaints similar to mine, I've come to the conclusion that:  a) this company obviously sells very expensive DISPOSABLE products and, b) spends quite a bit of time training their customer service department personnel in the art of arrogant, flippant answers.
