Try to change the date on the existing flight

I have never been hold on the lines this long in my entire life with any company, any business anywhere...all I wanted to do is change the date to go to Turkey on my existing ticket...Orbitz Travel agency tried their best to have the Turkish airline to change the date...they kept forwarding us to the Chicago Ohare Airport, than after a long waiting we found out that the phone number is changed, than we were directed to the New York JFK office...there is no one who knows what they're doing...this is the most unprofessional Airlines...all I needed is the change the date on the ticket, and I knew they're going to calculate the differences on the ticket price but this is beyond anybodys imagination beeing held on the phone more than 2 hours...they should either close this airlines or the money they're spending on the advertisement, they better update their services...that's more important then Kevin Costner to show up for advertising the THY for a million dollar.s this is insane...

For them it actually makes sense to have Costner in their advertisements because this makes them look good. They care tremeneously what other people think of them. This is a must to show the best! For them it is the most logical thing to do. Its like saying, look who is on board. We are the best!
So while they are trying to do their best with what they have (nobody yet has thought of the importance of the efficiency of the actual service), they may get pretty frustrated when impatient foreigners call them. To them we may sound very rude because the business is taken very personally here. If they are rude to you, it may be that you are rude to them without realisisng this. Moreover, you may have offended the poor operator personally. Anyway, I suggest some patience and mildness when callig Turkish companies. Some people go crazy over learning about Japanese culture prior to their trip to this country. So why not to try and understand Turkish culture a bit.
I have yet to test this theory when I call THY to change my flight. I am planning on starting with Turkish and then switching into English. It worked in Istanbul. They heat you trying theirt language mixed with some local gestures and you are almost like their brother or sister.
I hope it works this time and I will get good service. However, nothing guaranteed.
Good luck!
